Growing tomatoes without watering according to the method of Kazarin

9.04.2019 Tomatoes

Despite the different growing conditions, tomatoes are cultivated in various parts of Russia. The winners are gardeners who own a garden plot near the house. It is much easier for them to provide plants with constant care and watering. But gardeners with summer cottages far from their place of residence can use the useful method of growing tomatoes according to the method of Kazarin, which saves energy and time for watering.

Method Basics

The method of growing tomatoes by the method of Kazarin is the lack of watering plants from planting to the formation of fruit brushes. With frequent, but heavy watering The roots of tomatoes are located near the surface of the earth and are not capable of extracting water and food for themselves. They have no incentive for growth and development. With a lack of water, the roots rush into the depth, sometimes up to 2 m, and width, in order to find life-giving moisture there and are able to nourish the tomatoes not only during the period of intensive growth, but also at the time of fruit loading.

Features of growing seedlings

So that the seedlings planted in the ground for a permanent residence can survive in the absence of moisture and top dressing, it is grown according to a special method. In the usual cultivation method, when picking, the plants pluck the root 1/3 to obtain a fibrous root system.

Attention!
In the absence of watering, the gardener needs to grow seedlings with a long central root to get a crop, and pinching is strictly prohibited.

Seeds sown in:

  1. Capacity with ground.
  2. Twist (snail).

1 way to grow seedlings

A large capacity is filled with nutritious soil prepared at home and steamed or roasted in the oven or bought in a store. Make grooves with a toothpick and sow seeds to a depth of about 1 cm. Top with nutritious soil, cover the container loosely with a lid or plastic bag, leaving room for air. They put in a dark, warm place. When loops appear above the ground, the shelter is removed and the seedlings are placed on a bright window. When 1-2 real leaves appear in a sprout, plants dive, but not in separate pots, into separate snails made from cellophane. Dive Process:

  1. A spread on the table a piece of cellophane, similar in size to a food bag.
  2. 1 tbsp of soil is laid on it.
  3. Pry off with a fork or a small spatula a tomato sprout, placed on top of the ground.
  4. On top add 1 more tablespoon of soil.
  5. Wrap in a roll.
  6. Fasten with an elastic band
  7. Put in a container (container).
  8. Watering is carried out through a pan, adding a weakly concentrated complex fertilizer to the water.
  9. As the seedlings grow, the snail is unfurled, 1 more tablespoon of earth is added and wrapped again. In this form, plants grow before transplanting into the ground.

2 way to grow seedlings

On the table there is a cellophane food bag folded in half with a fold away. On him:

  1. Stack toilet paper in several layers.
  2. Wet paper from a medical pear with a solution of water with a growth stimulator.
  3. Lay out the seeds of tomatoes, departing from the top 1 -1.5 cm and about 2-2.5 cm against each other.
  4. Wrap the film in a tube.
  5. Tighten with an elastic band, write a grade.
  6. Put in a container.
  7. Close loosely on top with a plastic bag and clean in a dark warm place until loops appear on the surface of the paper.
  8. Watering is carried out through the pan, making sure that the paper does not dry out.
  9. When 1-2 real leaflets appear in the sprouts, they pick, leaving every second sprout here. Adding a little land on top, wrap it in a snail.
  10. Spiked seedlings are moved to another snail with a small amount of land.
  11. As the seedlings grow, a little soil is added to the snails.

Landing

Since seedlings with this method of cultivation are grown according to a special recipe, then when planting there are differences from the traditional method. Before boarding:

  1. All seedlings are removed from seedlings, leaving only 2 top leaves.
  2. Digging a trench, the length of which is slightly more than half the stem.
  3. Half a bucket of compost is poured into the trench, 2 handfuls of ash are mixed.
  4. 1 g of potassium permanganate is dissolved in a bucket of water.
  5. 1/2 bucket of the prepared solution is poured into the trench.
  6. They put the seedlings in the trench with the crown to the north and fall asleep, leaving only the top.
  7. They drive in a stake next, tie the top of the head strictly vertically.
  8. They shed again, pouring 1/2 bucket of water under each plant.
  9. Mulch with a layer of up to 10-15 cm, using rotted sawdust, dry grass, leaf litter.
  10. Another watering can be done during fruit set, when a developed root system is formed.
Attention!
Do not deepen tomato seedlings when planting. In the depths there are no microorganisms feeding plants.

Growing

The first 2 weeks after planting, the planted seedlings are pleasing to the eye, but as a result, when the earthen coma in the hole dries, the leaves begin to wither and wilt. At this moment, the struggle for survival begins. The roots are intensely searching for the missing moisture, their growth is intensive, and it is difficult for the gardener to resist watering to help the seedlings survive. But very little time passes, and the tomatoes regain their appearance. Therefore, the great advantage of this method of growing include the fact that even rejected specimens (frail or overgrown) yield the crop.

To the benefits this method of growing include:

  • lack of watering and top dressing;
  • the ability to visit the cottage less often;
  • power saving;
  • obtaining fruits with a pronounced taste and lack of wateriness;
  • getting a crop even from weak (frail or overgrown) seedlings;
  • ripening tomatoes 7-10 days earlier than usual.

By cons ranked:

  • the presence of mulch is necessary, preventing the evaporation of moisture from the soil surface;
  • located in a limited space (cup), when grown on a window, the seedlings have a fibrous root system, poorly adapted to an independent search for water, and can die with a lack of moisture when transplanted into the ground;
  • rapid drying of the soil in closed greenhouses and greenhouses and the likelihood of death of plants without watering;
  • clipping of the main root during transplantation leads to the growth of lateral roots located close to the soil surface and probable problems in finding water.

Reviews

Svetlana, Kaliningrad

“In our region with a peculiar climate, I did not dare to plant all the tomatoes using this method, I trained in 3 copies. But she did not grow seedlings in swaddling clothes, but in the usual way in glasses. When planting, I poured a hole in a hole in a bucket of water, so I worried about my ruffles. Watering was not particularly needed, it rained 1 or 2 times a week, but at some moments the tomatoes dropped the leaves, and it was very pity. But I got the crop a little later and less than on ordinary bushes, but the tomatoes were much sweeter. "

Igor Petrovich, pensioner, Ivanovo

“I heard about a new method of growing tomatoes and decided to try on several copies. I have a summer cottage in half an hour's walk, in summer you can spend the night, but there are interruptions in water. Therefore, if you do not stock up, the plants will be left without watering.I chose 5 small roots of tomato, planted, spilled, as it should. He filled up with mulch about 15 cm (hay remained from last year). After 2 weeks, the plants were sad, the leaves were lowered, but I held fast. After 10 days, they began to come to life a little, and I added mulch all the time under them. I didn’t notice an increase in the crop; rather, the tomatoes were smaller than on other bushes, but tasty. ”

Everyone chooses the method of growing vegetables on his site, taking into account all the pros and cons. But, for the sake of the experiment, it is still worth sacrificing several plants in order to understand how their struggle for survival occurs and to compare the taste of the fruits obtained with different care. And it is very likely that cultivation according to the method of Kazarin will be the only method of cultivation used by one or another gardener.
