Prepare a thick tomato sauce with onions for the winter in our recipe with step by step photos. This is a delicious seasoning, which is suitable for kebabs and meatballs.

It takes 40 minutes to cook. Of these ingredients in this recipe comes out 4 half-liter jars.

Ingredients for tomato sauce:

  • tomato - 2.5 kg;
  • onion - 500 g;
  • chili pepper - 1 pc .;
  • granulated sugar - 130 g;
  • table salt - 30 g;
  • vinegar 9% - 25 ml;
  • ground red pepper to taste.

How to cook tomato sauce with onions

Vegetables for harvesting choose fully ripe, whole, without spoilage and visible damage. Onion is better to take a sweet, its taste plays a definite role in this recipe, so it is better to choose a sweet variety. So, clean the onion from the husk, cut into large lobules.


Red tomatoes, you can overripe and crumpled, but without decay, wash carefully, cut off the stem, cut into large pieces.


Crush tomatoes in a food processor, along with the peel. If you want to cook a smooth sauce without seeds, you can strain the tomato puree through a sieve.
