The basic recipe for a delicious cabbage salad with meat, in which a minimum of ingredients: boiled beef, cabbage, onions, carrots and dressing from mayonnaise. Despite this culinary minimalism, the salad turns out to be very tasty, juicy and wonderfully suitable as a side dish to potatoes, buckwheat or rice, and as a main dish for a light dinner or snack.
If desired, the salad is easy to diversify, adding to the main ingredients canned corn or peas, boiled eggs, fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet peppers, pickled or fried mushrooms. Instead of boiled beef, you can take any fried, baked or boiled meat: chicken, turkey, pork. - boiled beef or veal - 150 gr;
- white cabbage - 300-350 gr;
- carrots - 1 small;
- salad or bulb onions - 0.5 pcs;
- salt - to taste;
- mayonnaise - 2 tbsp. l;
- freshly ground black pepper - 2-3 pinches;
- green onions - a few shoots.
How to cook a salad with cabbage and meat
Cut half of the bulb into half rings or thin feathers. Onion for salad is better to take non-acute varieties (red or purple). If you add onions, immediately after cutting, sprinkle with vinegar or pour boiling water to remove bitterness.
Thinly shred cabbage, rub carrots through a large grater.
Put the cabbage in a bowl, add salt to taste.
We rub the cabbage with salt with our hands, pressing it down slightly for a better selection of the juice. Leave about five minutes. For a young cabbage, we skip this step - it is quite juicy, tender, it does not need to be ground with salt.
Add chopped carrots and onions to cabbage.
Finely cut a few green onion feathers. Boiled beef cut into cubes across the fibers. Or we sort on large short fibers. Add along with onions to the salad.
Dressing salad thick homemade mayonnaise. For a more intense taste, you can add a little black pepper. All mix, put the salad in the fridge soak.
