Tomatoes with basil for the winter
This year I closed the tomatoes for the winter using several recipes, as I like to discover new flavors. And one of them is tomatoes with basil without sterilization. The number of ingredients indicated on the 2-liter jar. Since I closed several cans at once, the recipe description will be in the plural. If you can preserve in one-liter or three-liter cans, just calculate the proportion. The weight of the tomatoes will vary slightly depending on the size of the vegetables themselves.
Ingredients for the preservation of tomatoes:
- tomatoes - 1350 g;
- sugar - 4 tbsp;
- table salt - 35 g;
- citric acid - 2/3 tsp;
- basil - 2 twigs or 6 leaves;
- water - 1 liter.
How to cook tomatoes with basil
Banks wash well with baking soda, and boil lids for a few minutes. Put washed leaves or small sprigs of basil on the bottom of the cans.
Wash tomatoes well and put in jars. It is best to buy tomatoes of different sizes so that large gaps in the jars cannot be obtained and they can be filled with small tomatoes.
Pour boiling water.
Cover with lids and leave for 15 minutes. During this time, banks and tomatoes are sterilized.
Then pour the water into the pan and cook the marinade by adding table salt and granulated sugar. The water should boil, and the sugar and salt will completely dissolve. When the marinade is ready, pour citric acid into the jars and pour the marinade.
Roll up screw or tin lids and turn upside down. Wrap in a warm blanket. Leave in this form for a day.
Banks stored in the basement or pantry. In winter, open and enjoy with pleasure.
Enjoy your meal!
