Growing conditions
Since freesia can bloom all year round, many gardeners do this - in the spring they plant the bulbs stored in the winter in the garden, and in the fall, part of the dug bulbs are planted in pots. And in winter, freesia gives magnificent bloom in the house with a charming delicate aroma.
You need to plant in the garden in the spring, it is better by the beginning of May, when the land is already warm, and no frost is expected. The place you need to choose the brightest, but nevertheless slightly darkened by trees, since freesia, loving the light, still does not tolerate direct rays. Lacy shade of trees is the best option. Also make sure that the place is not blown by the winds, the southern beauty does not like drafts, and high grades must also be tied up so that the stem does not break under the pressure of the wind.
To grow freesia on the site, it is recommended to grow it a little in the house. This can be done in April, so that in May, the already grown bulbs can be planted in the ground. Peel the onions, remove all excess, rotten, treat with weak potassium permanganate, and place in fertile soil, preferably in peat pots.
Loosen the soil, apply peat, humus, leaf turf, dig holes not deep, up to 5 cm, plant onions, sprinkle with earth. As they sprout - water, top dressing in the form of a solution of superphosphate, ammonium nitrate. For the winter, dig, in a potassium permanganate solution, pickle, dry, and hang in a grid. So they will remain until spring. But all the same, you need to view them periodically, spoiled to remove, and in the spring - again in the garden.

Irina
I have already heard about freesia, a lot of good things a familiar summer resident told about her, and she smells nice, and pretty, and unpretentious. But I, unfortunately, do not have a summer residence. I like to grow flowers on the balcony. I wanted to start freesia, but was afraid that such conditions would not suit her. You have dispelled my doubts, now in the spring this flower will show off on my balcony.
