The potato for planting should be divided with a knife so that on each part there are 2-3 peepholes. We will proceed from the amount of 20 such pieces. Then, in ten liters of water, dilute a tablespoon of Bordeaux mixture, half a glass of wood ash, a teaspoon of boric acid and drip potassium permanganate to a pale pink hue. Soak the solution for 15-30 minutes.

This composition is medicinal for potatoes, and boric acid prevents cavities, rot and darkening inside the tuber.

After soaking in the prepared mixture, dry the pieces. In the ridge, designate a place for 20 pieces. Make holes, plant pieces with eyes up, put a little ammophos, dig holes, making mounds above them from the ground.

When the tops grow to 13-15 cm, you need to tilt it a little and cover it with earth. Then, when she again grew to the same level, push it off and again fill it with earth.

When it came time for us to dig up potatoes, an ordinary shovel was useless: they were digging with a pitchfork, carefully going around the bush from all sides. 2 buckets were collected from one bush; there were almost no small things.

We tried to plant a variety that looked like Karaganda, only instead of pink eyes were red, and instead of oblong, it was oval. The variety has several names: Rainbow, Bora, Drunkard. This is an early variety.

2 buckets were purchased, cut, but it turned out 1-2 eyes per piece. They planted in the same way, added ammophos, spud several times. Since the end of May, they dug it throughout the summer, every 5-7 days. Bushes spud at least 4-5 times. In the first year, the total yield was 16 buckets.

Next year, we already cultivated the soil in the fall, and in the spring we dug everything up and planted potatoes. Watering was rare due to the fact that in the country there was no one to live permanently. Planted varieties: Nevskaya, Slavyanka, Bor, Minerva, Carrera, Spark, Earth, Adretta. Soil - chernozem with sand. Varieties were planted separately, separated by bean bushes. They covered it with earth several times, added ammophos. The neighbors planted with plowing and complained that the potatoes had grown completely “baked”. And with us, only 1-2 top pieces went with greens.

It is important to constantly weed and loosen the earth: a plane cutter or a garden chopper. Then diseases and harmful insects will not touch the crop.
