Processing tomatoes with iodine from late blight in a greenhouse

6.07.2018 Tomatoes

Tomato affected by late blightDue to the antiseptic properties of iodine, it is often used to treat plants. The drug contributes to the destruction of pests in garden plots. Using the product, you can cure tomatoes in the greenhouse from late blight, get rid of root rot, powdery mildew.

Prepared working composition feed seedlings to increase productivity.

What is late blight

Late blight (late blight) is a dangerous fungal infection that leads to the death of plants. After the penetration of late blight, microorganisms completely destroy the garden plantings. The disease is dangerous for crops from the nightshade family, but other vegetation suffers from the spreading infection.Phytophthora

Late blight develops due to increased humidity or infected seed. To avoid the appearance of fungus, gardeners process seed material and soil. Infection begins to spread at low temperatures. The fungus affects both soil and greenhouse crops.

Signs and causes of the disease

Late blight appears on the tops of plants already 3 days after infection, if the weather is wet, then the fungus spreads more rapidly. Dirty brown spots appear on the leaves, then a grayish coating (spores) is observed. In dry weather, the foliage dries rapidly, in wet weather it rots. Blight spreads asexual spores (zoosporangia) that are resistant to environmental factors, which allows the fungus to linger for a long time in the soil and air. A favorable environment contributes to a greater formation of zoospores:

  • humidity;
  • fogs;
  • watering;
  • rains;
  • dew.

Spores spread through plant tissues. If the moisture on the foliage and stems is retained, then they germinate in 4 hours. Soil moisture contributes to faster infection, as the contact of moisture with the roots is longer.light spots

With a lack of iodine in tomatoes, immunity is reduced in relation to diseases. Iodine deficiency occurs due to the lack of an element in peaty, podzolic soil. Lack of element is also noted in light sandy loam, substrates with a lack of organic matter. Acidic soil is unfavorable for iodine, in it it penetrates into the deep layers, where the root system of tomatoes does not reach. With iodine deficiency in plants, the following negative changes are noted:

  • poorly tied fruits;
  • rot the ovaries;
  • red and yellow vegetables do not have a bright color;
  • the vegetative mass is pale;
  • retarded growth;
  • poorly formed color, fruits, seeds;
  • tomatoes have weak protective functions against fungal diseases.
Important!

Blight affects the whole plant - the fungus spreads through the root system, foliage and seeds.

Useful properties of iodine against the disease

Iodine is a natural antiseptic. Thanks to the microelement, the physiological processes of plants, respiration, photosynthesis, and nitrogen-water metabolism are normalized. Iodine is involved in the synthesis of certain proteins with amino acids (it is a component).Iodine and tomatoes

The drug normalizes the development of garden crops, budding, fruit setting. Iodine top dressing is used to support life:

  • flower crops;
  • Strawberries
  • potatoes;
  • Tomatoes
  • eggplant;
  • cucumbers
  • beets;
  • cabbage;
  • Luke;
  • maize;
  • sunflower;
  • salad greens.

Iodine solution is treated:

  1. Seed - to stimulate germination.
  2. Seedlings - to strengthen the immune system.
  3. Crops during vegetation - the fight against disease, increasing productivity.

Thanks to the remedy, plants increase their resistance to diseases, improves the digestibility of nitrogen.

Topping tomatoes with iodine solution

In order to prevent, it is recommended to carry out iodine universal top dressing. This is especially important for cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, garden herbs. Iodine is used both in greenhouses and in open fields.Yellow tomato

Preparation of top dressing:40 drops of iodine are dissolved in a 10 liter container with water.

Using: consumption of 500 ml of funds for each bush in which the first color appeared. Re-processing is done in a month.

Iodine and Zelenka

The composition of zelenka contains copper compounds, which means that the product has an antiseptic effect for tomatoes. Zelenka is an excellent fertilizer with a rich trace element. To cope with root rot on tomatoes or cucumbers, you must initially harvest.

The bushes are spilled with the prepared solution: in a 10 liter container with water dissolve half a teaspoon of greenery.

For prophylaxis, iodine solution is used: half a teaspoon of iodine is dissolved in a 10 liter container with water. The working composition is used through a sprayer.

If you mix 1 part of iodine or brilliant green with 2 parts of water, you will get a therapeutic solution for processing plant stems. Processing of bushes is carried out with a brush or an ear stick (stems are smeared from the ground by 5 cm upwards). Fungal infection dies after the second treatment. In total, 3 treatment procedures are recommended at weekly intervals.

Downy mildew on tomatoes is destroyed by the prepared solution with green. In a bucket of water add:

  • whey or milk - 2 liters:
  • brilliant green - 10 ml;
  • urea - 50 g.Iodine and Zelenka from late blight

During the season, garden plants are processed three times from the beginning of flowering (intervals of 7 days). For prevention purposes, the solution is suitable for cabbage, onions, shrubs, cucumbers and other crops.

Preparation of powdery mildew control:

  • milk - 100 ml;
  • iodine - 3 drops;
  • water - 1000 ml.

The components are mixed, the resulting composition is used for spraying the green mass. Treatments are carried out once a week.

From late blight helps the following solution:

  • 10 liter water tank;
  • 40 drops of iodine;
  • 1 tbsp. l hydrogen peroxide.

Spraying is carried out on the leaves and stems of plants (so that the leaves and soil are wet). Processing is carried out 4 times per season, weekly from flowering. The prepared composition not only destroys fungal infections and diseases, but also rejuvenates plants and prevents yellowing of foliage.

With late blight, you can fight with the prepared solution with brilliant green:

  • Zelenka - 40 drops;
  • ten-liter capacity with water;
  • the components are mixed, spraying is carried out through a spray gun.

The composition is abundantly sprayed with plants (1 time per week, 4 times a season).

Important!

 Spraying and top dressing are carried out in cloudy weather or in the evening.

Iodine and ash

Ash-iodine treatment is carried out for the prevention of tomatoes and other garden crops from late blight. Especially true in warm, but damp weather. To prepare the solution you need:

  • 10 liters of water;
  • a glass of ash;
  • 10 drops of iodine.Ash

Before processing the crops with the prepared solution, the plants are abundantly watered. This is necessary so that the solution is quickly absorbed and does not burn the root system. After mixing the composition, the soil is spilled near the bushes. The soil is disinfected with iodine, spores are destroyed, ash is the fertilizing of plants with useful microelements and the strengthening of immunity.

Preventive measures

For prevention, they begin work with seed disinfection before planting. A drop of iodine is dissolved in one liter of settled water. The prepared composition is used to soak the planting material for 7 hours.After that, the seeds are dried and sown in greenhouses or in beds.

A solution of iodine is also watered seedlings. Small sprouts are fertilized with a composition prepared from:

  • 3000 ml of water;
  • 3 drops of iodine.

The prepared product is used to strengthen immunity, form lush bushes, abundant flowering and fruiting. When the seedlings are already planted in the open ground and there is a sudden cooling with rains, each sprout is spilled with one liter of the prepared solution for fungal infection.

Recipe: 20 drops of iodine are added to a 10 liter bucket of water. Plants steadily survive the inclement weather. 21 days after preventive irrigation, tomatoes are sprayed with iodine solution from the occurrence of late blight.

In order to treat and prevent plants from late blight with iodine, the main thing is to maintain the recommended dosage and duration of treatment. Excessive amounts of the drug undermine planting health. An excess of the element leads to the death of the foliage.
