This recipe refers to instant recipes, because the appetizer is prepared right in the bank and you can try it literally in a day. It is fermented without vinegar, so it turns out not only tasty, but also healthy, which is especially true in the cold season.

From sauerkraut, you can quickly cook a delicious salad by simply adding onions, herbs, vegetable oil to it. Such a dish will be especially harmonious with potatoes.

  • cabbage - 1.5 kg.,
  • carrots - 2 pcs.,
  • water - 1.5 l.,
  • salt - 2 tbsp. l.,
  • sugar - 2 tbsp. l

How to cook sauerkraut in a jar

We will prepare all the necessary ingredients. Take any bowl or pan, pour one and a half liters of clean drinking water, throw salt and sugar. Mix the water until the grains are completely dissolved. For a while we put the brine aside. Remove the top leaves from the cabbage head. Cut the head in half and finely chop, you can use a grater.

Wash carrots under running water and peel. Grated peeled carrots on medium or fine grater.

Mix the cabbage and carrots well in a deep bowl, slightly kneading hands.

We take a clean jar, tightly ram the cabbage, optionally between the layers we put bay leaves and peppercorns.

With brine, pour the cabbage almost to the top, leaving 1 cm to the edge, cover the neck with gauze and leave at room temperature for one day.

Next, cover the cabbage with a lid and put it in the refrigerator. Serve sauerkraut in addition to any dish.
