Description and description of tomato "Black Sea"

14.02.2018 Tomatoes

In the collection of each type of plant there are unusual varieties that differ from the majority in their particular shape or color. Among the tomatoes, there is also such a representative: the Black Sea variety, which belongs to dark-fruited tomatoes. In 2007, Black Sea was included in the state register for cultivation in the Central Black Earth Region in open ground.

Tomato Black Sea: characteristic of fruits

Tomato variety Chernomor is a representative of mid-season high-yielding varieties. A distinctive and recognizable feature of this species is its color: ripe fruits have an unusual purple color for tomatoes with maroon tint.

The average weight of a ripe fruit with good care can reach 300 g. The fruits have a rounded slightly flattened shape with slightly pronounced ribs at the peduncle. In immature tomatoes, the color is light green with a whitish halo at the peduncle.

Thanks to the dense skin, the fruits are not susceptible to cracking and for a long time retain their presentation in transit. The taste of the Black Sea tomato is richly sweet with a pleasant acidity. The pulp is juicy and has a dense structure.

Tomatoes of this variety can be used in any form: fresh salad can be prepared from them, and they are also ideal in the preparation of ketchups, tomato paste and juice. For canning, these exotic tomatoes are not used.

Grade description

The Black Sea reaches ripeness on 115-120 days from the appearance of the first shoots. The bush reaches a height of 1.5 meters and requires tying to a support. The plant gives the greatest yield during the formation of the bush in 2–3 stems and pinching. The leaves and stem of the variety Chernomor have a green color. The leaf in shape resembles a potato, a simple inflorescence, forming 2-6 ovaries. The plant is a semi-determinant type.

Tomatoes can be harvested from bushes in the phase of technical maturity. The final ripeness they will acquire gradually in the process of lying at room temperature.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety Chernomor

The advantages of growing include the following factors:

  • beautiful exotic large tomatoes with excellent taste,
  • high productivity
  • grows on open ground, greenhouses and under film shelters.

The disadvantages, perhaps, include the high sensitivity of tomatoes to soil nutrition, the requirement for constant feeding. During cultivation, bushes should also be carefully formed and the plant protected from late blight.

Features of agricultural technology

For sowing seeds, it is better to take garden soil and humus in equal proportions. Ready mixes sold in specialized stores for this variety are not suitable.

Seed preparation and sowing

Sowing seeds for seedlings is carried out in the first decade of March 65 days before planting it in an open place. First, the seed must be sprouted - for this it should be wrapped in a damp cloth for several days. When the seeds germinate, they can be held in a growth stimulator for faster germination. And the final step is disinfection: lower the germinated seeds for half an hour in a very weak solution of potassium permanganate. After all the procedures, the seeds are thoroughly dried and can be sown.

For sowing, prepare small containers in advance and fill them with soil.Seeds are planted with a depth of 2 cm not very thickly, sprayed with water from a spray bottle and cover with a transparent material (film or glass). The containers should be in a well-lit place in a warm room. After the appearance of the first shoots, the transparent material is removed.

Picking seedlings

When the sprouts get stronger and the first 2 true leaves appear, they pick - plant the sprouts in separate containers. This procedure is very painful for tomatoes, but necessary, since picking increases the plant's immunity and makes it strong.

Again prepare containers with garden soil. Gently pry off the ground from the bottom of the shoots with a spatula and take out the shoots along with a lump of earth. Transplant to a new place, having previously done small indentations in the soil. Lightly compact the soil with your fingers and sprinkle with warm, settled water. Keep containers in a place well lit by the sun.

Planting seedlings in the garden

Tomatoes are planted in the garden in early June. If the planting of seedlings is supposed in a greenhouse or greenhouse, then this can be done 3 weeks earlier. The soil for planting tomato seedlings must be previously dug up and loosened. Make small holes in it and add a tablespoon of superphosphate or wood ash to each. For 1 square. m place 4 bushes of seedlings. Lightly compact the earth and pour water under the root.

Plant care

Further care consists in the removal of weeds, regular watering of bushes under the root, and loosening of the soil. As they grow, part of the lower leaves and lateral processes can be removed. Branches with ovaries are tied to supports.

Fertilizer application

Fertilizing the soil with liquid complex fertilizer is done when diving seedlings, when planting it in open ground, and also every 2 weeks in the garden.

Productivity

With proper and caring care, timely loosening of the soil, watering, the application of organic and mineral fertilizers, disease prevention, this exotic representative of tomatoes can yield 6-7 kg from one bush. In the greenhouse, crop ripening lasts until mid-October.

Disease and Pest Prevention

The main problem of the Chernomor variety is excessive exposure to late blight. To avoid this scourge, you should often ventilate the greenhouses, conduct timely pinching and removal of weed grass. To enhance preventive measures, plants can be sprayed with preparations containing copper.

Tomato is also susceptible to gray or basal rot. This can be avoided by treating crops with phytosporin or other antifungal drugs.

Mulching the soil with peat or straw will protect the plant from insect pests.

They fight aphids by spraying bushes with a solution of laundry soap.

Volatile insects will leave the habitat if treated with insecticides.

Reviews

According to the reviews of gardeners who tried to plant the Black Sea variety on their plots, the tomato gives an excellent harvest, both in greenhouses and in beds. From one bush you can remove up to 48 tomatoes of unusual color. And, of course, measures should be taken to combat late blight.
