Tomato Elisha: variety description, characteristics, reviews

22.03.2018 Tomatoes

Fans of tomato varieties with a sweet taste and unusual color can pay attention to the tomato Elisha, which since 2015 has been in high demand and love among summer residents. With a relatively early ripening, you can get a crop of strong orange-yellow fruits, elongated cylindrical-rounded shape.

With proper agricultural technology, you can collect enough fruits for fresh consumption, for canning and pickling. Green fruits are placed in a cool room in cardboard boxes and covered with a warm cloth. There you can store tomatoes for a long time, gradually bringing to the usual orange color. They are stored until December, and if you sort it out and ventilate, then you can hold out until the New Year holidays. The originator of the variety is the well-known agricultural firm Aelita, the Russian leader in the market for the production of seeds and auxiliary components. She has a deservedly high reputation. All seeds are sold in a branded bag.

Characterization and description of the variety, yield

Domestic variety with excellent recommendations. It surpasses many varieties in growth, taste and seed. Resistant to Fusarium and Verticillosis, a domestic variety from the originator Aelita. A determinant bush, not higher than 120 cm, small cylindrical sweet fruits of a bright yellow-orange hue, look great against a background of light green foliage and in a jar with winter blanks.

Interesting! The color of the fruit of the variety Elisha depends on the duration of exposure to the sun, because tomatoes of this variety prefer to grow in well-lit places. The brighter the sunlight and the longer the fruit stays on it, the more dominant they become. In the South, tomatoes are a beautiful golden-orange hue.

The average weight of the fruit is 50-60 g, sometimes 70-80 g, on the brush there are usually 4-6 pieces that ripen at the same time. Under the film shelters, according to some gardeners, Elisha gives 8-8.5 kg, although in the open ground there was also a yield of 2.5-3 kg from the bush. In a temperate climate, its palatability also deserves only commendable reviews, but many people associate the color of the fruit with dried apricots, in contrast to the shade acquired under the bright southern sun.

Thanks to its ability to tolerate cool weather well, the Elisha tomato grows well both in areas of problem farming and in the southern regions. It bears fruit all summer season, although it belongs to the early varieties. Its ripening time is approximately 100 days, a little less or a little more.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

The variety has no particular flaws in any recall. Some consider it necessary to garter the bush so that the branches do not break under the weight of the crop, but any kind of tomato requires it. The advantages of the golden tomato Elisha are much more than some other varieties:

  • strong determinant bush that does not require special care;
  • resistant to cold and some common diseases;
  • delicious fruits with lots of sugars and vitamins;
  • maturation on the brush is simultaneous, it can be removed directly with it, this increases the shelf life and resistance to transportation;
  • high keeping quality of tomatoes picked in a state of technical ripeness (up to 3 months in favorable conditions);
  • can grow in open ground and under film shelter in almost any region of the country;
  • extremely unpretentious in leaving;
  • yields a consistently high yield throughout the entire growth period.
Note! Elisha, unlike other orange varieties, is universal. It not only has an amazing raw sweet taste, but is also suitable for any culinary needs, it gives a special taste to cooked dishes. Its dimensions are optimal for canning in banks in general. It is used for salting for the winter.

Features of growing and planting time for seedlings

The best time for planting seedlings in the warm regions of the country is considered to be the middle and end of February, in a temperate zone they are planted in early or mid-March. The seedlings ripening period is 65-70 days, so you need to focus on the climatic conditions of the region and the recommendations of the lunar calendar of the gardener. When planting seedlings in a greenhouse, it is recommended to carry out two dressings with humic fertilizers. After transplanting into open ground, three times of feeding is required (per hole, after the first flowers and after the first harvest), watering is required moderate, every 5-7 days.

On each bush, subject to all conditions of care, up to 60 tomatoes can ripen at the same time. This requires the removal of leaves, for them to receive sunlight, and proper garter so that the fruits do not appear to be lying on the soil.

Tomato Elisha can be planted directly into the soil. To do this, the seeds are sown no earlier than the second decade to a shallow depth with a 50x40 pattern, fertilized with growth stimulants and covered with a film. The pick is held at the level of 2 leaves.

Reviews gardeners

Igor Alexandrovich, 48 years old. Astrakhan region:

I am a farmer with 10 years experience working with tomatoes. It’s just a disgrace that there are no seeds of this variety anywhere on sale, even if it’s not from Aelita, but I can’t find it for the second year. In our village there are only two stores with seeds, so they have not heard about this variety, but before they were always in the region. Now they say they’re not importing. He grew up for three years, was pleased. Productivity is good, they are willing to buy. Color is cool. The last crop was put on salting, two barrels came out. Dutch and French are full, but you can’t find your own. The paradox is simple.

Anna, 32 years old. Voronezh region:

Took to the cottage on the advice of a neighbor. We are simple people, we grow for ourselves, the plot is small, there is not enough space. I was tormented with red varieties, everything somehow did not work out. And this one put on a test - ate all summer. Green tomatoes that did not have time to mature lay until the end of November. The fruits are sweet, directly sugary, did not even want to translate into canned food. I’ll plant more this year. They only say that it’s difficult to get seeds.

Sergey, 29 years old. Kostroma:

I am an amateur summer resident, a small special, so I indulge in a weekend with my wife together. The wife is delighted, well, so they are delicious, it's true. But I love the red ones. What kind of tomato is it, if it looks like an apricot. For an amateur, in general.

Inga Grigoryevna, 59 years old. Krasnodar:

In my South, all varieties grow well. But Elisha is in the favorites. You will get a jar - and it is so elegant, especially if you make assorted dishes with cucumbers and red brothers. In the summer they ate pink tomatoes - the whole family loves them. And these - the very thing at sunset. Compact, hold shape, color unusual. All friends asked what kind of variety it was, and how to grow it. I’ve already prepared seeds, I will plant them.

Judging by the reviews of gardeners and the description of the variety, tomato Elisha is the indisputable success of domestic breeders, which is certainly worth trying in cultivation.
