Every year more and more interesting novelties of tomatoes appear, growing which gardeners get a real aesthetic pleasure from their decorativeness.

One of these varieties is Violet Passion, which will undoubtedly become not only an adornment of the festive table, but also of any garden site.

Grade characteristics

Tomato "Purple (Purple) passion" refers to exotic black-fruited varieties. It is grown mainly in greenhouses, and in the warm southern climate and in open ground. It belongs to medium-tall tomatoes, up to 1.2 meters; with an average maturity; indeterminate view. In the greenhouse, no more than 2 plants are planted per 1 m of area, so that when a bush is formed in 2-3 stems, the tomatoes grow freely without shading each other. The bushes are like potato tops, lush and rich green. Fruits are flat-round in shape, large, weighing up to 300-400 grams. Ripening acquire a dark pink color with a beautiful purple tint. Tasty, juicy and very sweet. Ideal for fresh consumption.
They are distinguished by good productivity, up to 5 kg per bush. If you form a plant in one stem, cutting off all stepsons and forming the number of ovaries, you can get even larger fruits.
The only drawback of the tomato "Purple Passion" is that when the soil is waterlogged, the fruits may crack.

Seedling planting

Since the yield depends not only on proper care, but also on high-quality seeds, it is recommended to purchase seeds from well-known agricultural companies and verified manufacturers. Growing tomato seedlings begins with sowing seeds. In the middle lane and in the south of Russia, the Purple Passion variety is sown for seedlings from March 1 to March 20. The soil for planting should be fertile and loose, before use it is shed with boiling water with the addition of manganese or calcined. This is one of the methods of disinfecting the soil from diseases and pests. They also act with seeds. There are companies whose seeds do not require additional preparation and are sold already processed. If in doubt, it is necessary to hold for 20 minutes in a concentrated solution of manganese, rinse and dry, treat with the growth stimulator "Epin" or "Immunocytophyte". You can hold the seeds in a damp cloth, this will allow them to hatch faster.
After sowing, before germination, they shade and cover the containers with glass or film, maintain the temperature within 24-27C. With the advent of seedlings, the temperature is lowered to 18-20C, the illumination is increased and the glass is removed, watered with warm water. After the appearance of 2 real leaves, seedlings are dived.
After seedlings reach 55-60 days of age, they plant it in a greenhouse.

Features of cultivation and care of the variety

Tomato "Purple Passion", like most other varieties, needs regular pinching - removal of secondary processes. Without pinching, most of the nutrients are spent on the development of the green mass of the plant, and the formation and ripening of fruits slows down. Stepsons are cut with ordinary, previously disinfected in a solution of manganese, scissors to prevent infection of the plant. At the place of the cut, it is necessary to leave a small 1 cm stump, which will not allow new shoots to develop in this place.
It is necessary to constantly check the planting of tomatoes for pests and diseased leaves: fruits and foliage should not touch the soil, as they can rot, which subsequently leads to the death of the plant. In time, carry out the tying of fruit stems and remove ripened tomatoes. Unripe fruits can be harvested for ripening in a dry and warm room.

Resistance to disease and adverse conditions

The cultivar Purple Passion, grown in greenhouse conditions, is exposed to the danger of disease only if you violate the rules for caring for it. The Violet Passion tomato is unpretentious in cultivation. Moderate watering, timely top dressing make it possible to get an excellent harvest of delicious fruits with exotic colors.
Only at first glance it may seem that growing tomatoes is very difficult. One has only to try, and your garden collection will be updated annually with new interesting and tasty varieties.

Reviews

I have been doing tomatoes for about 10 years. The land is small, so basically all varieties are grown in a greenhouse. I want to note the varieties that may surprise you with something, especially those that produce fruits of unusual color and shape. Among all exotics, I like tomato Purple passion. Tomatoes are very tasty and sweet, large. One fruit is enough for a funky salad.

I would like to say a few words to gardeners. Now in the seed market it is very difficult to choose something specific, I want to try everything. Every year, in addition to the constant varieties, I add several bushes of new tomato. They advised the Purple Passion variety. It goes like a greenhouse variety. I managed to collect a very good crop in the open ground. Maybe, of course, because of the warm summer, but rather because of the unpretentiousness of the variety and excellent resistance to small temperature differences.
