Aunt Gerti's Tomato Gold is suitable for fresh consumption and does not differ in good keeping quality (about a week after a breakdown). It deserves popularity among gardeners, thanks to the large fleshy fruits of a bright yellow color.

Variety Characteristics
This tomato variety is indeterminate, therefore it has no growth limitation and bears fruit for a long time. On average, the weight of one fruit is 300 - 500 grams, which is very much appreciated among gardeners - cooks. If the garden plot is located in the shade or the region’s climate is cooler, it is better to grow vegetables in greenhouses. The height of the bushes can reach 1.8 - 2.1 meters. The stems themselves are quite strong and stable, but during the period of growth and ripening of the fruits they need to be tied to an additional support. In terms of ripening, the variety belongs to medium-late plants.
The leaves of the bushes are large and similar to potato. They protect the root system from drying out in the long-term absence of watering or rainfall.
Features of the fruit
Ripe tomatoes have a bright yellow or orange color, flattened shape and a balanced sweet taste with a light aroma of melon. Large tomatoes are ideal for making fresh salads, and can also be used as an ingredient in juice or sauces.
Tomatoes are suitable for preparing children's dishes, as well as following diets.
Productivity
The variety is characterized by increased yield, if in the process of cultivation, stepsoning was carried out in a timely manner and 1 - 2 main stems remained in the bush. From one bush you can collect up to 6 - 9 bright fruits.
Agricultural technology
If the cultivation of tomatoes of this variety begins with sowing seeds, then the procedure itself is best carried out in the second half of February or at the very beginning of March. The soil for seedlings should be moist, loose and fertilized, for example, leaf humus. Planting seeds is carried out to a depth of not more than 1.5 cm. The distance between the holes should be about 2 cm. The soil container is stored in a well-lit room with an air temperature of at least 12 - 15 degrees Celsius.
To preserve soil moisture, it is recommended to cover the container itself with glass or a transparent film. In this case, the seeds require daily ventilation (at least 30 minutes). As soon as the shoots begin to appear, the top cover is completely removed. It is extremely important to monitor the conservation of soil moisture and heat in the room. Seedlings are ready for planting in the soil, if the height of the bush reaches at least 15 - 20 cm.
Planting seedlings on open ground is carried out only after the soil has warmed up to 10 degrees Celsius, and the air temperature will not drop below 15 degrees (the minimum risk of night frosts). As a rule, this happens in the second half of May.
Care Features
Since the bushes grow tall enough and require additional support, planting seedlings is recommended to be carried out with a calculation of not more than 4 bushes per square meter. After heavy rains, it is extremely important to loosen the soil. A few weeks after planting, the hills of the bushes are necessarily carried out. Emerging lateral shoots must be immediately broken off (pinching), this will allow the main stems to receive maximum nutrients, and therefore, give a good harvest.
If the site itself is prone to infection with various fungi and microbes, the root part of tomato bushes must be treated with protective agents. For example, fruits can be saved from vertebral rot by spraying the leaves with a solution of calcium nitrate or adding wood ash to the hole itself. Rot, manifested by gray deposits, is typical for damp and cool greenhouse spaces. In order to get rid of it, it is necessary to establish the optimal air temperature for growing seedlings, as well as ventilation. If leaf twisting is not associated with prolonged drought and too high air temperature, the root part must be fertilized with mineral complexes with a predominant copper composition.
It is not recommended to grow tomato in areas of soil with high acidity. Shrubs grown on soil, in which sand or clay predominates, will differ in their changed taste and low productivity. Fertilizing the soil is recommended to be carried out in the fall using organic humus and the mandatory digging of the entire site. If the seedlings are planted in the second half of May, then the first bright ripe fruits will be available in August.
Advantages and disadvantages
The choice in favor of this variety can be argued:
- incredibly sweet rich fruit flavor;
- beautiful bright color;
- balanced juiciness of pulp;
- long fruiting period.
There are several disadvantages:
- the fruits are suitable only for fresh use and after stalling retain their qualities for no more than a week;
- bushes require preservation of soil moisture and may die from the onset of unexpected frosts;
- insufficient lighting affects the yield and size of the fruit;
- Plants require additional protection from pests.

I have been growing this variety for two years. I really like the sweet melon taste and bright color, which allows them to feed even children. I tried to grow in two and three stems, but in the first case the yield was larger. Cultivation of varieties on open ground is very risky, since the variety is extremely heat-loving. Better in the greenhouse and with regular watering. It takes a long time to wait for the first fruits, because the variety is medium-late, but the taste of the fruits is worth it.

To successfully grow tomatoes, you need to use a healthy, clean soil with fertilizer. One of the greenhouse pests is a spider mite, the appearance of which is indicated by small spots on the leaves, and the leaves themselves become yellowish-white. Actofit biological product has become an effective way of struggle, but the removal of film shelter will not be out of place.
