Galbena Nou grapes

When developing Galbena Nou grapes, breeders tried to take into account all the wishes of vineyards and ordinary summer residents. High productivity, unpretentiousness, early ripening and excellent taste - all these qualities won the hearts of even the most fastidious lovers of white grapes.

general characteristics

In the work on the cultivation of the variety, grapes of Moldavian selection “Frumoasa Albe” and the pride of the Institute of I. Michurin “Korinka Russkaya” were involved. The variety, unique in combination of positive characteristics, has not yet been included in the state register of selection achievements, but despite this it is widely distributed among winegrowers under the names Zolotinka or New Yellow.

Plant description

Bushes "Zolotinka" tall. With proper care, the vine can reach a length of 3 meters. In this case, the ripening of the vine is almost 100% of the entire length. The peculiarity of the variety is that shoots, both young and perennial, have increased flexibility. Therefore, the plant is not afraid even of strong gusty winds. The leaf plates are light green, small in size, rounded in shape. The general appearance of the bush is similar to a decorative plant. Such a tree can be used for landscaping arbors or canopies.

“New Yellow” is an early ripening variety. From bud blossoming to full ripeness of berries, an average of 125 days passes. The flowers of the plant are bisexual, that is, pollination occurs without the help of other varieties. The bush bears fruit in a single planting. This is very attractive to gardeners with small plots.

The frost resistance of the variety is above average. A grape tree without shelter tolerates frosts up to -25 degrees. It is not afraid of sudden changes in temperature. Such qualities make it possible to grow Galbena Nou in all regions of the country and neighboring countries.

Fruit brushes are often regular conical shape, sometimes branched. The weight of one bunch is on average 500-700 gr., Some specimens reach 1.5 kg.

The clusters are large, cone-shaped, the weight ranges from 400 to 700 g, with proper agricultural technology - 1.5 kg. The berries are not located densely, from which the brushes look loose.

Interesting!
Seedless varieties have one distinguishing feature - they are all excellent pollinators.

Features of berries and their application

Berry weight may vary depending on care and weather conditions. On average, the weight of one berry is from 6 to 9 grams. The shape of the fruit is predominantly round, rarely oval. The skin of unripe berries is green. As they ripen, the berries acquire a golden hue. The taste is great. Galbena Nou is one of the five best-tasting white grapes. Berries with a balanced taste with a high sugar content and a pleasant nutmeg aftertaste. The pulp is elastic, juicy, pitted.

The fruits are universal in purpose. As a dessert, they can be consumed fresh, to make juices, compotes. Muscat berries produce rich home-made wine drinks. The dense structure of the grape makes it commercially viable to grow. Bunches do not crumble and keep a fresh look during transportation.

Productivity

The variety is early ripening, the first "signaling" is formed already in the second year of planting. Productivity is estimated as average, but annually stable. From one square meter, you can collect 5-6 kilograms of berries.

Advantages and disadvantages

According to winegrowers reviews, the Galbena Nou variety is considered almost perfect. Significant disadvantages during its cultivation were not noted. Among the advantages, the following are noted:

  • gives the first crop in the second year;
  • the fruits have a presentation and a wonderful taste;
  • universal in application;
  • resistant to grape diseases;
  • frost resistant;
  • due to intensive growth it can be used as an ornamental plant.

The subtleties of agricultural technology

Caring for the Galbena Nou grapes is easy. All agricultural techniques are available to every gardener, you only need to take into account some features of the variety.

Landing

You can grow a vine by planting seedlings or cuttings. With the cut-off method, planting is best done in autumn, seedlings, on the contrary, take root better in spring.

Vine bushes prefer humus-rich soil. Plants on the hillsides and rocky areas feel comfortable. The groundwater level should not exceed 2.5 meters from the soil surface.

Landing pits are prepared in advance so that the soil is well settled. Otherwise, the likelihood of basal voids is high, which leads to the death of the plant.

Before planting, you should consider which side the support for the bushes will be located. With a slope in this direction, it is necessary to arrange seedlings when planting. So, the vine will naturally stretch to the support, and, therefore, it will be easier to tie it up.

You should know!
Bushes "Zolotinka" have powerful roots, so they will not be glad to close neighbors. The interval between grapes and fruit trees (shrubs) should be at least four meters.

Watering

A deep root system allows grapes to easily tolerate drought. However, with the help of timely irrigation, you can get larger berries and strengthen the plant's immunity. Irrigation rates vary from soil composition. The approximate water consumption is presented in the table:

Soil type

Amount of water on 1 m2, in liters

Clay

40-50

Sandy loam

60-70

Sand

80-90

Trimming and shaping a bush

The variety is characterized by intensive growth of green mass. The formation of the grape tree must be given special attention. Trimming procedures are carried out annually. The stages of the formation of the bush are presented in the table:

Deadline

Name of works

May 1-10

right after the buds open

Get rid of basal shoots by cutting them at the level of the soil surface. Be sure to cut the shoots duplicating fruit branches and underdeveloped, with signs of disease branches.

June

Pinch the tops of vigorous shoots, shortening them by 5-10 cm.

Normalize, unloading the bush from unnecessary bunches.

August 20-30

Chasing the vines. To do this, in all shoots, remove the tops with 6-8 upper leaves.

October 1-10

At the end of sap flow, when the grapes fall into a dormant state, the vine is cut off, leaving 7-8 eyes on each shoot.

Advice!
Experienced growers are advised to normalize to remove the top of the two clusters on the same shoot. As a rule, it is formed smaller in size.

Diseases and Pests

Strong variety immunity allows you to grow an environmentally friendly crop, without the use of chemicals. Bushes are almost not affected by mildew and rot. In adverse conditions, rare cases of oidium diseases were noted.

Sweet berries and thin skin attract wasps. Insect attack can completely destroy the crop.There are several effective ways to solve the problem:

  • set traps with baits in the vineyard;
  • hide each bunch in special mesh bags;
  • make a false nest (wasps do not settle where the area is occupied).

Preparation for winter

"New yellow" frost-resistant variety of white grapes. But you should remember that only a fully matured vine and a healthy plant tolerate low temperatures. Therefore, because the grapes were looked after during the season, its frost resistance depends. In order not to weaken the plant, it is necessary to maintain the optimal load of the vine.

With proper care in the middle lane, the grape does not need shelter. In regions with little snowy and frosty winters, it is better to hedge and wrap up the vine. To do this, you can use fallen needles or any non-woven material.

Shelter for the winter

"Galbena Nou" growers in their circles called the "workhorse". Attractive, unpretentious, early ripe grapes will decorate any garden plot and will delight you with a sweet berry crop.

Reviews

Svetlana Stepanovna, Leningrad Region

Zolotinka has been growing on my site for the sixth year already. Sapling purchased in the market from an experienced winegrower. In the appendix to each seedling he gives out instructions for planting and care. I tried to follow all the recommendations. The main ones: it is watering through a drainage pipe, forming a bush so that there are no more than 40 eyes. As a result, harvests are pleasing even in our cloudy region.

Great variety. It grows well and brings annual crops. The bushes are very vigorous and strong, clusters of medium friability. The grapes taste sweet, nutmeg. The berries are firm but not crunchy. Vineyard care is minimal. Water, if only for a long time there is heat and drought. From top dressing I use organics in early spring and autumn. I recommend everyone to cultivate the plot. There are no special worries, and the taste is no worse than what they sell in the store.
