The merits of the variety

Choosing the “Pink King” variety, although some stubbornly call it a tomato “Pink King f1”, the characteristic would be incomplete without a list of merits:

  • large, leveled fruits;
  • excellent taste properties;
  • high marketability of products;
  • Excellent resistance against verticilous infection.

As a disadvantage - low yield, but it is more than covered with excellent taste.

Features of growing

Like all varieties with a high growth force, the “Pink King” needs a seedling period.

Dates of crops are determined by the zone of cultivation.

Recommended growing regions

During the approbation period, the variety was tested in all climatic regions of the Russian Federation and was recognized as suitable for cultivation in all, both in greenhouses and in open ground.

If the region is northern, and transplanting is carried out in early June, there is no point in hurrying with the sowing of seeds for seedlings. The first days of April are quite normal dates. The age of seedlings at the time of planting in the garden should be 55-65 days.

Pathogen Resistance

The variety has good sustainability, confirmed by the phytosanitary inspection. Vegetable growers who grew tomato in vegetable gardens and greenhouses confirm the high strength of resistance to both pathogens and temperature extremes.

However, experienced tomato lovers say that tomatoes need to be treated with fungicides regardless of the weather, since there is not a single, absolutely sustainable variety.

Rassada period

Before sowing, tomato seeds should be soaked in a damp cloth and heated at a temperature of 24-26 ᵒC.

Sowing is carried out on nutrient grounds, purchased in a specialized gardening shop, or prepared independently according to the following recipe:

  • garden land (not to take from the places where they grew solanaceous crops);
  • mature compost;
  • ripened humus farm animals;
  • coarse sand.

All ingredients are mixed in a ratio of 1: 1: 1: 1. 30 g of superphosphate, potassium sulphate and ammonium nitrate are added to a bucket of such a prepared mixture. Everything is mixed and left for aging. Ideally, such a mixture should be harvested in the fall, but if this is not possible, then at least two weeks before the seed is sown.

Seeds are sown in total capacity, spreading them at a distance of 1.5-2 cm from each other. Sow crops with glass or film. Before germination, the temperature is maintained at 24-26 ᵒC, and as soon as the seedlings are visible, it is lowered to 14-16 ᵒC at night and 16-18 ᵒC during the day.

In the period of growth before picking, seedlings require:

  • timely watering;
  • airing;
  • abundance of light.

As soon as two true leaves appear, the plant dives into individual cups. Initially, they may not be large, 50-60 ml each, but as the plant grows, they carry out the transshipment without traumatizing the soil clod in a larger container.

A dive is carried out by cutting (you can nail) 1/3 spine. This will allow the taproot to go into the fibrous root, and to increase the absorption area of nutrients.

Plant the plant in the ground on the very seed leaves, pressed and watered abundantly. Initially, the temperature is maintained at 14-16 ᵒC, and then increased by 1-2 degrees.

Transplant into the ground

If the age of the seedlings is already optimal, and weather conditions do not allow a transplant, then it can be held. Pulling tall seedlings will not cause her much harm, but the landing will need to be lying or with a strong burial.

There are whole methods for growing tall tomatoes, according to which a special, very early sowing is carried out in order to achieve the drawing of seedlings.

This is due to the fact that the tomato plant gives root processes over the entire surface of the stem and thereby increases the area of absorption of nutrients.

When choosing a landing site, you should pay attention to:

  • soil fertility. The higher it is, the more productive the landings will be;
  • security from the prevailing winds. Tomato plant is thermophilic and in the northern regions needs protection;
  • predecessor. Avoid planting tomatoes where peppers, eggplants, and potatoes grew last year. No matter how stable the grade of the herbed predecessors is to him;
  • soil permeability. It is impossible to plant a crop where water constantly accumulates - there will be no harvest.
Contrary to the general opinion that tomatoes need the brightest place - this is a myth.

Tomatoes can withstand partial shade, but they must be provided with a place with a rising sun, in this they resemble roses.

Care culture

During the period of growth, tying and ripening, a tomato plant needs:

  • weeding from weeds;
  • plentiful but not frequent watering with warm water;
  • timely staging and culture in one stem;
  • constant formation and tying not only shoots, but also tomato brushes, since large fruits are difficult to retain;
  • constant dressings with alternating organic and mineral substances.
