The Potato Manifesto is the result of the work of Belarusian breeders. The most widespread was in the fields and gardens of Belarus, but is also popular with potato growers in Ukraine, Moldova, Lithuania, Kazakhstan and the Central regions of Russia.
By maturity, the variety is mid-late. It is characterized by high productivity and resistance to major potato diseases and damage.
Main characteristics:
- The average weight of potatoes is 100 - 135 years.
- Starchiness - 13-15%.
- Drought tolerance is good.
- Marketability - 80 - 97%.
- Keeping quality is 94%.
- Consumer purpose is universal.
- Consumer qualities - during cooking it does not darken, boils medium (type AB), good taste.
- The ripening period is 90-110 days.

Yields
The variety is characterized by high productivity. Fixed yield indicators: from 165 to 460 centners per hectare. Usually 11-15 potatoes are tied in a bush.
Morphological features
The potato bushes of the intermediate type semi-erect Manifesto reach a height of 50 cm. The medium-sized emerald-colored leaves have a slight waviness along the edges, completely open, glossy.
The tubers are pink in color, oblong, rounded, with small yellow eyes. The pulp has a yellowish tint.
Growing rules
- Soils. Manifesto potatoes love light, breathable soils. Good yields were observed on chernozems, chestnut and carbonate soils. Before planting, the soil must be well loosened.
- Dates. The optimal landing dates are the first decade of May. In the southern regions, you can start planting at an earlier date, the main rule is that the soil should be heated at least + 8o at a depth of 10 cm. Planting in cold soil leads to the disease of potato shoots, which significantly reduces the number of ovaries. Planting periods delayed by a couple of weeks also lead to a decrease in productivity by 7-10%.
- Landing rules. It is important to lay out the seed from the hole or furrow at the same distance from each other, and observing the same depth. What does it give? The same laying depth allows the seedlings to rise equally above the surface, which facilitates the care and simultaneous ripening of the crop. A distance between the bushes of at least 50 cm will allow access to the light equally well from all sides.
- Fertilizers The Manifesto variety responds well to fertilizers, the more the better. Increased productivity was noted with the introduction of increased Doge organic and mineral fertilizers.
Care Rules
The rules for caring for planting potatoes of the Manifest variety do not differ from the basic rules for caring for this crop:
- weeding, weed removal is carried out manually, or with the help of herbicides;
- after the tops reach a height of about 15 cm, carry out the hilling of the bushes, which is repeated twice with an interval of two weeks;
- cultivation, hilling and weeding must be completed before the tops of the bushes close their crown;
- during growth, additional feeding is possible with urea, chicken manure dissolved in water or dispersal of mineral fertilizers;
- with a prolonged period of drought, additional irrigation is recommended. Often this does not need to be done, the potato responds well to sparse but plentiful waterings. Potatoes especially need moisture during the growth of shoots and the laying of tubers.
Harvesting and storage
Harvesting on time is no less important than meeting the planting dates. Tubers overexposed in the ground warm up, wither. Such a crop is poorly preserved, and begins to germinate ahead of time. The optimal time is considered to start the harvest of potatoes after drying of most of the leaves. About two weeks before the intended harvesting period, the tops are mowed and the crop is aged to harden the crust.
Tubers can be dug on soft, loose soil using a pitchfork.
Manifesto potatoes harvested at appropriate times show high levels of preservation in cool, damp areas. The optimum temperature for winter storage is 3-5o warm.
Diseases and Pests
This potato variety is resistant to diseases such as golden nematode, wrinkled mosaic, and medium resistant to late blight. Of the pests, potato plantations are plagued by Colorado beetles, bears, and potato moths.
The insect tolerates cold winters well and has the ability to multiply rapidly. A sign of pest infection is twisted leaves and the presence of a web between them. Spraying with drugs like Leptocide can help save the crop before the beginning of the ovary of flowers. Penetration of tubers can be prevented by high earthing up of bushes.
Reviews
Manifesto potatoes attract gardeners. Those who tested it at their sites speak positively of high productivity with simple agricultural technology and the taste of potatoes. For those who were growing for sale, the variety liked the ability to maintain its presentation in transportation and good preservation. No negative reviews have been registered.
