The leaves sprouted around seedlings, what is the reason?

9.03.2019 Tomatoes

A special problem of seedlings is leaf curl. The reasons that cause it are the uneven development of the plate, lack or excess of nutrients, improper care, the presence of pests, diseases. The first problems are not difficult to eliminate. The presence of pests can be noticed and the fight begins. The disease is much more difficult to detect, and even more so save the plant if it is affected by bacterial and fungal infections.

Infectious diseases of tomatoes

Diseasecausing twisting of leaves in the ennobled areas, where the owner of the garden carefully watches the nurseries and the state of the soil, occur infrequently. Destroying weeds, cultivating the soil, applying fertilizers, growing only healthy planting material will be a good defense against pests and diseases.

Fusarium wilt

It’s hard to detect. Bacterial fungi remain on uncleaned plant debris, penetrate, clogging plant tissue. You can only notice when the stem begins to rot, a pink coating appears, the lower leaves turn yellow, curl.

Note!
Infection is facilitated by a small number of light rays, elevated air temperature.

The following activities are required:

  • harvesting infected organisms along with the soil surface;
  • spraying with potassium permanganate healthy plants;
  • sprinkling of beds with ash.

You can prevent infection by preparing the soil well, treating the seeds with a biological fungicide. To protect against fusarium, a solution of potassium permanganate with the addition of boric acid is suitable. With this solution, you need to process the culture once under the root.

Powdery mildew

The infection is fungal in nature, it scatters through the air, transmitted through household tools to treat the site. The dew centers look like a white, reddish coating, which slows down the process of saturation with the sun. It can be erased, thinking that they got rid of it, thereby spreading the raid. The leaves of the affected cultures begin:

  • curl up
  • turn yellow
  • to fall off.

As a prophylaxis, fungicide should be used, plants should be sprayed in the spring.

Powdery mildew is a dangerous disease, causes great harm, can lead to death. Prevention:

  • water moderately;
  • observe the distance between seedlings;
  • feed with phosphorus, potash fertilizers.

Verticillosis

Fungal disease, during infection, wilting occurs, loss of elasticity. Twist, lower leaves turn yellow, then the upper.

Attention!
In acute infections, the plant dies in a short period.

Symptoms appear even during flowering. The fungus accumulates gradually throughout the plant:

  • root;
  • casting;
  • stem.

Bacteria penetrate through small, then through large roots. The defeat of young plants occurs most often. Protection against verticillosis:

  • do not overmoisten the soil;
  • use nitrogen fertilizers carefully so as not to hurt the roots when cultivating the land.

Mosaic of tobacco

The viral nature of the origin. Mosaic affects at the cellular level, occurs during contact with diseased seedlings. Aphids, bedbugs, ticks are pests that contribute to the spread of the virus. It penetrates through damaged tissue, affecting the seeds.

The virus slows down development, spots of different sizes, shapes, colors from green to white shades of twisted leaves appear.

Bacteriosis

Diseases caused by bacteria cause a slow necrosis of individual parts, gradually affecting the root, then the vascular system, and then all other tissues.

It is possible that foci appear above and below the ground, with time, decay and death occurs. You can revive if you cut off the rotten parts, process, transplant into dry prepared soil.

Prevention and control measures

For prevention, you need to treat the seedlings with 1% Bordeaux liquid once every ten days. If affected areas were found, then it is necessary to process twice as often as 2% with Bordeaux liquid.

You can still make an infusion of garlic, onion:

  • 2 crushed bulbous heads;
  • 4-5 garlic cloves.

Pour water at room temperature based on these ingredients per 5 liters. Insist a day, treat until recovery.

A solution of nitrate is used: based on 150 g of the active substance per 10 liters of water. Spray is in the fresh air until the signs of infection disappear 1 time after 5 days.

When transplanting seedlings add:

  • tobacco dust;
  • slaked lime;
  • wood zone.

All at 5 g per 1 kg of soil.

You can use whey. For minor lesions, spray her bushes.

To reduce the rate of development of the disease by fungi, plants should be treated with chalk, dolomite flour. Infections do not survive in a neutral soil structure saturated with calcium.

Compliance with simple rules for a rich harvest:

  • use healthy seeds for planting;
  • choose disease resistant varieties;
  • stand in a fungicide solution for 30 minutes before planting;
  • when removing the infected plant, remove along with basal soil;
  • burned plants so that the infection does not move;
  • to wash garden tools after work, to process them with technical alcohol;
  • wash garden utensils, treat with bleach;
  • disinfect the soil before planting or after removal of the infected organism;
  • fertilize the soil.

Plant diseases are always unpleasant. But they can and should be fought. A competent prevention will be the key to health seedlings.
