Description and description of tomato "Apple of Russia"

21.02.2018 Tomatoes

Tomato Yablonka of Russia is a universal annual vegetable crop of the Solanaceae family. This variety has been successful with summer residents for several decades.

It was bred by domestic breeders back in the 80s of the XX century, although until recently it was known as “Tamina”.

Features of growing varieties

Apple of Russia is a variety of domestic selection tomato. The plant is determinant, that is, limited in growth. This can be both an advantage and a disadvantage. After 3 to 5 hands are tied to a plant, it stops growing and making ovaries. Thus, the determinant variety is limited in fruiting and yield. But the determinant Apple Tree of Russia is a variety with early friendly ripening of fruits, and also has a high and long yield.

In addition, the variety Yablonka of Russia is standard. And this means that even a lazy gardener can grow it, because the plant does not need to be formed (stepson) and tied up. Since the plant is determinant, the bushes of this variety are low, from 100 to 130 centimeters, but in the greenhouse they can reach two meters. On average, from one bush you can get from 3 to 5 kg.

Apple of Russia: regions for growing

The variety Yablonka of Russia can be grown both in the garden and in the greenhouse, as well as using various designs of the greenhouse species. A plant of this variety is considered thermophilic, loves sunny and protected from the wind places for planting. But at the same time, it compares favorably with its resistance to changes in weather conditions, both to a sharp increase in temperature and its decrease. Therefore, even in Central Russia with its extremely unstable climate, this variety can be grown in open ground. The plant is also resistant to diseases, usually affecting tomatoes.

Growing seedlings and care

The end of March or the beginning of April is a good time to start sowing seeds for seedlings. Since the variety is early, the first fruits can be harvested after three months from the moment when the seedlings give their seedlings. You can dive seedlings when 2-3 real leaflets appear. Seedlings are transplanted into the ground when the probability of night frost is low. This is either the last decade of May or the first decade of June. True, if film shelters are used, then plants can be planted in the ground before. Plants are planted according to a pattern of about 70 cm by 40 cm or 60 cm by 30 cm. The first treatment is carried out, as usual, no earlier than fourteen days after the plant was planted. Further, care consists in the correct and regular watering (not frequent, but plentiful), removal of weeds and top dressing.

Characteristics and description of the variety

The leaves of plants of this variety are very similar to the leaves of potatoes. The fruits of this variety are smooth, small in size, weighing from 70 to 100 grams. The color of the fruit is bright red. In appearance, the tomatoes justify their name, as they look like paradise apples. The peel of such tomatoes, although thin, but they do not crack and are distinguished by good transportability and storage. Given these factors, this variety is good for preservation and for consumption in fresh salads.

We have been planting this variety for several years. We like. Tasty and beautiful tomatoes. We use mainly for conservation. But I want to note that they love watering very much. Therefore, we had to ask our neighbors to water our landings in the middle of the week.

I don’t know, I read a lot of positive reviews and I decided to sow the seeds of Apple tree myself. I tried for two years, low germination. Productivity is also lower than declared, maybe something was doing wrong?

Irina

The variety is good, but there is nothing outstanding in it. Tomatoes are beautiful, small, fit well in a jar, so we like to preserve them. The pulp is tasty, they go well in the salad. The bushes bore fruit for a long time, of course, not 4 kg per bush, but we had enough.
