Growing seedlings in eggshell

Growing seedlings in eggshellIn conditions of environmental degradation and increased risk of neoplasm development, people are looking for ever new ways to grow plants in a favorable and safe environment. Of course, the safest and most environmentally friendly conditions for growing (or germinating) are those created by nature itself, so egg shells can be considered an ideal basis for home farming. In the remaining shells, you can grow weed for domestic rodents, sprout seeds of garden flowers, etc. Growing seedlings in eggshells is a simple way, and we hasten to tell about it:

You will need:

  1. Eggs and a box from under them (preferably from pressed paper, which is more loyal to external influences).
  2. Soil - sand, sawdust soil. If you decide to engage in environmentally friendly seed germination, then do not buy packaged soil in which there are special disinfectants and phosphates added, etc. to adjust the PH balance, and bring the topsoil from the forest.
  3. Water for irrigation. Use well-protected water, if this is not possible, then carefully filter tap water, but do not boil.
  4. Seeds, sprouts that prefer to occupy a small place for roots (snowdrops, cacti, many types of grass, etc.)
Materials

At the first stage, it is necessary to prepare ecological “containers”, that is, shells. You will need most of the volume of the egg, so gently chop with a knife at the top of the shell in a circle and make a hole about 1 cm in diameter. Use the contents of the egg for food - for dough, omelet, etc.

Prepare the shell Cut off the top

The shell must be dried within 1-2 days.

Dry

Carefully trim the excess edges at the base of the eggs. You can cut out several supports and not use the entire tray.

Make a pallet

In the next step, carefully fill the eco containers with soil. It is more convenient to lay soil or sand with a small spoon (from a baby mixture or take a disposable one from a set of plastic dishes). Take into account the preferences of the plants for the selection of soil - sand is ideal for cacti, but the violet leaf will sprout faster in wet sawdust.

Fill with soil

Do not fill the soil to the edge that has been knocked down; in this case there will be no room for watering. It is recommended to leave a void of 3-4 mm.

Place the filled shells in an egg container. The number of conditional beds can be any, depending on the size of the window sill or a special shelf.

We place in a pallet

Moisten the soil with water before planting. It is recommended to water from a watering can with a thin nose (like those that come with the irons to refuel them with water). Consider that there are no holes in the shell below and excess water will remain inside, so carefully rely on watering for this small amount of land.

Moisturize the soil

Plant seeds or processes of flowers in moist soil. Water the soil as needed, approximately once every 2-3 days.

Planting seeds

If necessary, plant the sprouts in the garden or garden. In this case, it is not necessary to get shoots from the “tank”, it is enough to squeeze the shell to form cracks and plant them in the designated place.
