Dates of planting a tomato in a polycarbonate greenhouse in the suburbs

2.06.2018 Tomatoes

Tomatoes are probably the most common vegetables in the world. Not for nothing that every year new varieties and methods of their cultivation appear. The highest vegetable yield can be obtained in a polycarbonate greenhouse. Consider the timing of planting tomatoes in such a shelter in the suburbs and the features of this procedure.

When to plant

In the Moscow region tomato seedlings are placed in unheated shelters from late April to early May. But in polycarbonate heated greenhouses, this process can go on all year. At the same time, agricultural technology and care rules must be strictly followed.

In the Moscow region can grow different varieties of tomatoes, both early and late.

How to prepare a room for tomatoes?

The greenhouse should be located in a sunny area where light comes from all sides. With its lack, the sprouts will weaken, and this will adversely affect the future crop.

If there is not enough natural light, artificial lighting is required. For this purpose, fluorescent lamps are used, but if possible it is better to purchase a specialized phytolamp. Their price is much higher, but their efficiency is much higher.

First of all, you need to take care of watering. An ideal option is a drip system, but in the absence of an opportunity it is better to buy a volumetric barrel for settling and heating water, which is subsequently used for drip irrigation.

Ventilation is also very important. A lack of air is unacceptable, as are drafts.

So that the soil is not frozen, it is advisable to cover it with hay or straw.

Regardless of whether the greenhouse has recently been built, or vegetables have already been grown in it, by placing seedlings in it, the soil is disinfected with Bordeaux liquid, copper sulfate or a concentrated solution of potassium permanganate. These compounds spray the inner surface, first of all, the holes where harmful insects like to settle.

We must not forget about the soil. A portable greenhouse can be moved from one place to another, but this will not work with a capital building. Tomatoes can not be grown every year in the same territory so that they do not get sick with fungal infections and do not suffer from pests.

However, so that the tomatoes are not in danger, an absolute change of soil is not required. You just need to remove 10 cm from the top, treat with copper sulfate and sprinkle fresh soil on top.

The best predecessors of tomatoes are potatoes, legumes, cucumbers, mustard.

The best option for soil enrichment is autumn or spring sowing of green manure 21 days before transplanting. These plants have strong roots and enough nutritious components given to the earth.

Mowed siderates are left for several days and digging the soil.

Some summer residents throw snow into the greenhouse to eliminate harmful insects in hibernation and add beneficial substances to the soil.

To improve soil fertility, wood ash, manure and humus are added there. This is done when digging in the fall or on the eve of planting seedlings. But we must not allow the dung to touch the young leaves, otherwise they may simply die.

The cultivated land needs rest and a temperature of at least 13 degrees.

Landing algorithm

Even strong and healthy seedlings need to be prepared for relocation to a new place. 5 days before the procedure, the shoots are treated with boric acid so that the flowers and ovaries form correctly.

On the eve of planting, 2-3 leaves are cut.The fact is that when they come into contact with the ground, the air will not receive enough air, the roots will not be able to develop normally, which will reduce the yield. But you need to remove them carefully, with disinfected devices, and treat the sections of the cut with potassium permanganate.

Disembarkation is carried out in the afternoon. The shoots are placed in abundantly watered soil to the root bud. Experienced farmers plant tomatoes not directly, but at an angle of about 50 degrees, directing the plant top to the northeast. So tomatoes adapt better.

After a week, the culture is watered under the root with warm, settled water.

Landing pattern

If the soil is warm, you can begin to prepare the beds. As a rule, they are placed near the walls, and in wide greenhouses - in the center.

The distance between the rows should be 60-80 cm, and the size of each - 50-90 cm, according to the selected grade.

Ridges are built at an elevation of about 40 cm. The location of the holes depends on the characteristics of the tomato variety. Each of them is watered with hot potassium permanganate two days before transplanting. At the same time, supports are being built.

Such a thermophilic culture as a tomato feels great in a polycarbonate greenhouse. Observing the planting dates, you can collect high-quality tasty fruits, not even in the warmest terrain.
