Orchid Cornevin: Application for Root Extension

13.06.2019 Orchid

Not every grower manages to grow a luxurious orchid at home. Exotic plants need to create the most comfortable conditions, provide special care for the root system. The drug Kornevin will help, used to build roots, improve survival, increase the immunity of colors.

Properties and composition of the drug

Kornevin is a domestic product manufactured by Agrosintez LLC. This is a structural analogue of natural auxin - a biologically active phytohormone that promotes the formation of new root cells.

The active substance of the composition is (indol-4 yl) butyric acid (IMA), which, after entering the soil, is converted into phytohormone. The composition of the drug also includes:

  • potassium - strengthens the cell membrane, contributes to the creation of turgor (elasticity) of the leaves of the plant, the attractiveness of orchids;
  • phosphorus - an element of the synthesis of plant tissues. It is necessary as a component in the production of sucrose, starch, cellulose, which are important for the growth of the root system;
  • manganese;
  • molybdenum.

For the full development and growth of orchids, they need various microelements, and Kornevin completely fills this need.

The drug is known as a growth stimulant that accelerates the formation of callus in processes with mild roots. It is also used to eject peduncles in orchids, to obtain a greater number of children. The concentration of the active substance is 5 g / kg.

Phytohormone is released in the form of a finely divided wettable powder. Coloring is white, pinkish. Packing:

  • sealed bags of polyethylene of 3, 4, 5, 10, 30 grams (for use on domestic plants);
  • Kraft bags with 25 kg polyethylene liners.

When dissolved in water, forms a stable suspension.

The effect of Kornevin on the orchid

Orchids grow in special substrates, where the main component is the bark (pine, spruce, oak). In urban apartments, it is difficult to maintain the desired moisture content of the substrate, therefore, in plants, due to excessive, or vice versa, insufficient moisture, the root system suffers. Thanks to treatments with the drug, it is possible to cure, reanimate diseased plants, strengthen healthy specimens.

Root system growth stimulation

The use of Kornevin promotes the formation and growth of new root processes. Bursts on callus ("living" cells "plants) give impetus to the origin and growth of roots. Thanks to the drug, gardeners bring orchids back to life, which, due to improper growing conditions, have lost most of their roots.

Stem growth stimulation

It so happens that the demanding orchid does not want to bloom. The use of a hormonal agent allows you to push plant tissue to active division. The plant has new shoots, accelerated metabolism, photosynthesis.All this ultimately leads to the formation of peduncles and the intensive formation of buds.

Improving seed germination

Orchids are rarely grown by seed, but if necessary, Kornevin is also used to improve the germination of the material. The drug is added to the substrates, pre-mixed with activated carbon powder. This contributes to the activation of embryos in the seeds, rapid germination, eliminating the risk of waterlogging and drying of the substrate.

Pros and cons of the drug

Kornevin solutions prepared for irrigation, as well as dry powder, are stable. The benefits of using the drug are:

  • stimulating the growth of new root cells;
  • strengthening the roots of the plant;
  • increase seed germination;
  • active formation of full-fledged flower cuttings;
  • building healthy green mass of the plant;
  • activation of growth of peduncles, which leads to lush and abundant flowering of orchids.

Phytohormone has a low cost, is available in convenient packaging. Its action, subject to all the rules and recommendations, is soft, long-lasting, effective. Since the mechanism of action of IMC is similar to the fact that the roots easily irritate the microburn, it is necessary to strictly observe the dosage of the drug. Otherwise, instead of stimulating the root system, the plants will rot and die.

Cornevin for orchids: instructions

It is recommended to use Kornevin for orchids of any kind - lithophytes, epiphytes.

On a note!
Kornevin is especially effective for root growth in Phalaenopsis, Dendrobiums.

Solution preparation and dosage

Prepare a solution in glass or ceramic containers. Observe the exact dosage, diluting 1 gram of powder in one liter.

It is recommended to calculate the expense of funds in advance and dilute the required amount. For example, for a standard bag, 3 grams are taken, respectively, three liters of water.

Water requirements

For the preparation of solutions using clean, settled water. It is advisable to prepare formulations with non-chlorinated water. The best options are melt or rain. Water temperature should be 30-35 degrees. When placing a flower in a container, it is controlled that the water level is constant and, if necessary, add water.

Wet method

The traditional option is to stimulate the growth of roots, when the plant is placed in the prepared solution, and then in a moistened substrate.

The action plan is simple:

  • in the cooked handle, the bottom leaf is carefully cut;
  • the slice is dried (filter paper may be used);
  • stand the handle for 3-4 hours in the air;
  • immersed in a solution (leaf bud remains on top) for 15 minutes;
  • while the solution is being processed, 4-6 tablets of activated carbon are pulverized;
  • they take out an orchid and carefully dip it with roots in charcoal powder (for disinfection and healing);
  • transfer plants to a container with a substrate or put in a bowl of water for rooting.

Dry processing

Rooting in this way is usually used if the cuttings have not given roots in the solution of the drug. The plant is carefully inspected (it is better to use a magnifier), and if no influx of callus and root buds has been detected on the bottom, dry pollination is carried out.

Stages:

  • dip roots into Kornevin powder;
  • then dipped into powder from crushed tablets of activated carbon;
  • placed in a container of water until the roots or immediately into a moist substrate for rooting.

It is recommended that a small amount of crushed activated or charcoal be added to the substrate during planting.

Orchid resuscitation

The drug Kornevin is an ambulance for diseased orchids.Thanks to the use of the composition with phytohormones, a withered plant with rotten roots can be revived and the roots grow.

Main steps:

You may be interested in:
  • orchids are removed from the substrate;
  • gently clean and wash the roots;
  • sick, dry, rotten leaflets are cut;
  • inspect the roots, also remove all the decayed parts, while they cut off about a centimeter of healthy tissues (so that the cut is without signs of decay);
  • with severe damage to the roots, cut them off completely, leaving only the bottom of the orchid and a couple of healthy fresh leaves;
  • maintain the flower for 3-4 hours in a warm place, closed from direct sunlight (for drying sections);
  • soak the plant (roots or bottom) in the prepared solution of the diluted product for 8-10 hours;
  • after the orchid is taken out and placed in warm water. Activated carbon is preliminarily diluted in a container (one tablet per liter);
  • maintain the plant in such a solution up to 1.5-2.5 months before the appearance of roots.

A little water is regularly added to the container, compensating for the evaporated solution. For better growth, it is advisable to put the orchid in a warm, bright place and cover it with a light cloth. The air around the flower is moistened 2-3 times a day. When the roots appear, the tissue is removed, the plant is planted in a container with a substrate. Further care after transplantation is usual.

Features of the application of Kornevin

Many are interested in the question of whether it is possible to water a blooming orchid with Kornevin. Herbal medicine is used to stimulate the growth of strong shoots and peduncles, that is, it is used before flowering.

In the period when the plant forms buds and produces flowers, there is no need to water and process phytohormone. Excessive stimulation leads to burns, dropping buds and petals.

Do not use Kornevin for spraying plants on leaves. The drug is intended for root formation, callus growth, therefore, for foliar treatments is not suitable.

Compatibility of Kornevin with other drugs and fertilizers

The manufacturer indicates that the phytopreparation is compatible with most agricultural chemistry and plant protection products. It can be used in conjunction with fertilizers, with top dressing.

For testing when in doubt about the use of combined mixtures, a small amount of working solution is prepared. An equal amount of substances is added to the water, and the changes are observed. In case of precipitation - the funds are incompatible, if there is none, the preparations are suitable for sharing.

Overdose

Phytohormone, when added to solutions, acts on plant roots that grow as an irritant. If the amount of the active substance is exceeded, the tender roots of orchids get burned. The processes of sap flow are disrupted, the formation of roots ceases. This leads to decay of the root system and, as a result, to the death of the orchid.

On a note!
Exceeding the concentration of Kornevin's solution is detrimental not only for representatives of orchids, but also for any other plants.

Shelf life of the finished solution

The prepared solution of the growth stimulator is used within 10-12 hours. The drug in diluted form cannot be stored, therefore, it is necessary to accurately calculate the required volumes and prepare only the required number of solutions.

Precautionary measures

The drug belongs to substances of hazard class III, that is, it is considered low-toxic. But follow the basic rules of work and protective measures necessary for everyone:

  • the powder is volatile, therefore it is better to work with it on the loggia, balcony, where it is easier to provide ventilation;
  • solutions and dry processing are carried out with gloves;
  • dry powder is stored in hermetically sealed bags away from children and animals.

Reviews

Ekaterina, Omsk

Since I just recently started to deal with orchids, for me many drugs are still completely unfamiliar. But I can definitely say that Kornevin is an excellent tool to save a fading flower. Thanks to this elixir of revival, I saved the sprouts of the orchid that was presented to me, which now delights me with flowering. Actually, after that I started buying these flowers and became interested in the intricacies of leaving.

Timur, Moscow

I constantly apply Kornevin's solution when transplanting any orchids. Plants do not decay, adapt well to a new substrate, grow faster and do not get sick. Only solutions are used, I have not tried using dry root treatments. So far, the result is completely satisfied.

Kornevin is a phytopreparation designed to enhance the growth processes of the root system, improve the survival rate of cuttings, and stimulate the lush flowering of orchids. Its use in the indicated dosages greatly facilitates the care of tropical plants demanding on growing conditions.
