Growing and caring for a plant

  • Seed is planted in March in order to plant the finished seedlings in the greenhouse in May, or in the garden in June.
  • Seeds must be decontaminated before planting in order to increase their resistance to bacteria that may be in the soil. For disinfection, you can use a solution based on potassium permanganate. Preparation of a 1% solution: you will need 1 gram of potassium permanganate and 100 ml. water. Soak the seeds for 20 minutes, after which they are washed with clean water and dried. Seeds can be treated with special disinfectants: Fitosporin or Kornevin.

Seeds are placed at a distance of 2-3 cm., Planting depth 1-2 cm. The soil must first be watered with warm water, in the greenhouse the air temperature is + 20-25 degrees, and humidity 60%.

  • Before planting, the seedlings are well watered so that it is easy to transplant into separate holes. Mineral fertilizers can be added to the soil at the rate of 30 grams per square meter, or wood ash (1 glass per well). Seedlings are planted a little at an angle.
  • After transplanting, the plant needs to adapt and take root, so you will not see rapid growth in the first week. When the tomato takes root, you need to place a support next to it, to which you will tie the plant as it grows. In the phase of active growth, do not forget to pinch bushes.
  • Watering is not necessary often. Watering is worth every five to seven days. If the summer is very hot, then if possible, watch for the drying of the soil, increase the frequency of watering.
  • The beds must be weeded and loosened.Avoid weeds, as they attract various insects that can carry various viruses.

Reviews

Maxim Anatolyevich, 45 years old.

It has long been growing various hybrid varieties. They like the fact that their productivity is higher, and they do not get sick so often. The Ashkelon variety attracted fruits with its color. Previously, I did not grow such beautiful tomatoes in my garden. The color of ripe tomatoes is dark cherry, some tomatoes from afar seemed black. The taste is pleasant, but does not stand out, the tomato is like a tomato. The skin is dense, which allows them to lie for a long time. The fruits are not very juicy. I can’t highlight the shortcomings, I liked everything about him.

Anastasia Gennadievna, 38 years old.

I started growing tomatoes and other vegetable crops not so long ago, only three years ago, when we moved from the city to the village. During this time I got a lot of “cones”, but already in the third year, I already learned how to plant all cultures correctly. The husband bought the Ashkelon tomato at a seed store, they cultivated it in a greenhouse. They got a good crop, the fruits are not only large, but a lot of them are tied to the bush. They ate it fresh and prepared dried tomatoes.
