Characteristics of tomato Bugai pink, reviews about its productivity

2.04.2018 Tomatoes

In the same way that every soldier sees in his dreams himself a general, in the same way gardeners seek to grow a large tomato. Today, not only residents of the south, but also summer residents of the middle strip, regions of the European North, Siberia, have such an opportunity.

Thanks to breeders, many varieties of large-fruited tomatoes have been bred that grow successfully even where the summer does not please with special warmth and duration. Among these varieties are Bugai pink, a tomato that was born through the efforts of breeders of the Siberian Garden company.

Grade description

On a packet with a description, the tomato is briefly, but very accurately described, a powerful Siberian, and this is indeed so. The variety is distinguished by the power of the plant, fruits, growth, while it has a harmonious taste.

It was bred in Siberia, especially for cultivation in territories with difficult climatic conditions. It has been on sale for several years, but has already managed to prove itself perfectly.

It should be noted that varieties of large-fruited tomatoes are more preferable than hybrids, if you set yourself the goal of growing a large tomato. For hybrids, this is possible, but usually at the genetic level a certain standard is laid for them, and even with special formation of flower brushes it is hardly possible to get too large tomatoes. In varieties, everything is different, and when plucking flowers in the Bugai brush, proper care in the greenhouse, you can remove a tomato weighing up to 1000 grams.

By maturity, Bugai belongs to mid-ripening varieties (up to 115 days). In regions with a short summer, it is recommended to grow it under shelters, be sure to tie and form a bush. The plant is tall, up to 180-190 cm in height. In the open field, the bushes will be lower, but the yield indicators will be corresponding. Common practice: forming a plant in one stem, although some gardeners leave two trunks. Stepsons must be removed.

Since the tomatoes in this variety are large, it is necessary to provide the plant with good regular watering, enhanced dressing. Buhai tomato is grown through seedlings, it is advisable to sow the seeds immediately in separate containers to do without diving.

Fruit Description

The variety is valued for large fruits and great taste. Given that Bugai is a ripe tomato by ripening time, its growing popularity becomes clear.

Tomatoes have a rounded shape, can be slightly flattened. The fruits are very dense and fleshy in structure, with bright pink skin. There are very few chambers, like seeds, the pulp on the cut is sugary, with droplets of “dew”. The taste is pleasant, rich tomato.

By weight, as already mentioned, on average, fruits reach 500-600 grams. Record holders of 900-1000 grams can be obtained by plucking the extra flowers in the brush. The largest fruits usually grow on the first brushes, then more aligned tomatoes of lower weight already go.

They use fresh Bugay fruits, they are suitable for processing into pasta, juices, and are well suited for lecho. For conservation, it is better to take tomatoes in slices, also this variety is good for sauces in tomatoes prepared in their own juice.

Reviews about the cultivation of the Bugai variety

Regina, Leningrad Region

They gave me a sample of several bushes of seedlings of the Bugai variety. There was no place in the greenhouse, planted them in open ground and covered them with lutrasil. The tomatoes were large, about 400 grams, but not much on the bush. I think it affected that they grew in my garden.I collected my seeds and I sowed them in the second year. Already grown in a greenhouse, but the variety was not particularly pleased. Of course, if someone needs exactly large tomatoes, Bugay may be suitable. But since there are few fruits on the bush, for me it is not profitable. To the credit of the variety and its authors - it tastes very good!

Daria, Balashikha

I bought Bugai, the seeds were Sibsadovsky. Variety indet, powerful, but not many leaves, well ventilated. Shaped in two stems, brushes knitted very well. Tomatoes are large, perfect in shape, with a very beautiful color - pearl pink ones, even seem to shine through. On the fault - sugary, juicy, very tasty. But I want to say right away that this variety should be given good top dressing, especially potassium and phosphorus. My bushes grew in two greenhouses, and so in the second Bugai was a little underfed. Therefore, the tomatoes near the stalk had a small spot, and the fruits with veins came across. She took off both ripened and green, perfectly met. Ate fresh, in the banks did not roll it.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Bugay variety

Tomatoes from Siberian breeders are famous for their unpretentiousness and productivity. Bred for cultivation in difficult conditions, they, with good care, give very good results.

Advantages of tomato Bugay pink:

  • large fruits;
  • mid-season;
  • very good taste;
  • resistance to temperature extremes;
  • resistance to many diseases;
  • Good productivity - up to 3.5-4 kg from one bush.

Pink-fruited tomatoes are distinguished by excellent taste. The thing is that the fruits contain an increased amount of sugars, as well as antioxidants. The taste of pink tomatoes is brighter, richer than that of red varieties, while they are very useful. An additional “plus” - one large tomato is enough for a salad for the whole family.

This tomato is still positioned as a novelty, in specialized stores its cost is high. When buying, you must pay attention to the name and description of the variety, as there is another tomato under the name Bugai, but only with red fruits.

"Cons" varieties:

  • the need to tie and form tomato bushes;
  • reinforced dressing, without which you can not get large fruits.

Speaking about the unpretentiousness of the Bugay pink variety, we did not mean the lack of care as such. Expecting to get a good crop, one should not forget about following all the recommendations, carrying out certain techniques of agricultural technology. They are mostly standard, very simple, but when implemented, giving a good result.

Some recommendations for growing varieties

The large-fruited Bugai is grown through seedlings, otherwise in the conditions of a short summer its fruits will not have time to form. Sowing seeds is usually carried out in March, having prepared all the necessary materials in advance:

  • seeds;
  • containers for seedlings;
  • the soil.

Nutrient soil is made independently, purchased in stores - here the gardener himself makes the choice. For peat mixtures, the addition of turf or sheet earth, baking powder is required.

Powerful and strong Bugai plants need large capacities, only then it will be possible to count on good productivity. Therefore, you can sow the seeds first in common boxes or small glasses, and later dive or transship in separate larger pots.

ATTENTION! When growing in shared crates, tomatoes, when 2-3 real leaves appear, are sure to dive.

Today, many gardeners grow seedlings immediately in separate cups, excluding diving. Soil is added to the tank as the tomatoes grow, and the transshipment method is also used, replacing the tomatoes in a freer container.

During the cultivation of tomatoes, about two top dressings are done at home, using ready-made fertilizers or complex compounds (for example, nitrophosphate).

Planted in the greenhouse strictly according to the scheme: no more than 2-3 plants per square meter.

To get large fruits, you must follow a number of rules:

  1. The bushes need to be formed, for which they leave one or two stems, and the rest are removed. Indeterminate varieties are characterized by strong growth, a large number of side shoots and if they are not removed, the bush will be thickened, and the fruits will be small.
  2. Stepsoning is carried out regularly, until the lateral shoots in the sinuses do not exceed 5-6 cm. The stepson is not completely broken out, a stump is left up to 1.5 cm. In this case, a new stepson will not appear in this place.
  3. Regulate the number of flower brushes on one plant, leaving no more than 3-4 brushes on the stem.
  4. In August, pinch the bush, while two leaves must be left above the last flower brush.
  5. Wanting to get large tomatoes, only a limited number of flowers are left in one brush, removing the rest. Standard method: on the first brushes of the bush leave two or three tomatoes, on the next - no more than 4.
  6. Plants are tied using stakes or trellises. For garter to stakes, it is advisable not to use ropes that can cut the stems, but wide cotton ribbons.

Intensive growth of vegetative mass is a signal that you may have fed your tomatoes with nitrogen. It is necessary to reduce the amount of nitrogen fertilizers, give the plants phosphorus fertilizing (it is good to use spraying on the leaves with a superphosphate extract).

For such fruitful and large tomatoes as Bugai, dressing is mandatory. But it is required to comply with the norms of applying any fertilizers (organics, mineral elements) so that the tomatoes receive a balanced diet. Up to the moment of fruit setting, organic feeding is very useful: mullein, bird droppings, which are bred with water. Proportions for mullein - 1:10, for litter - 1:20.

ON A NOTE! Mixing mullein or litter with ash is not recommended. It is better to make one fertilizer first, and after a few days - ash infusion.

As natural potash fertilizers (and potatoes are very necessary for tomatoes during the formation and ripening of fruits), herbal infusions are used. The best “lunch” is obtained from nettles, as the plant contains large quantities of nitrogen, iron, potassium. But other herbs will do: dandelion, comfrey.

From the moment of fruit formation in the top dressing, potassium and phosphorus are preferred.

Very effective are spraying tomatoes with such compounds:

  • iodine and water (4 drops per 10 liters);
  • infusion of ash (take 5-8 liters of 6-8 cups of sifted wood ash, insist for two days);
  • boric acid solution (for five liters of water - 10 grams of the substance).

Of the mineral additives used at that time potash fertilizers, nitrophoska can also be used. With mass fruiting, it is very useful to feed the large-fruited Bugai with humate, you can also use a superphosphate infusion. Such top dressing accelerates the formation of fruits, they also contribute to improving the taste of tomatoes, their faster ripening.

The fruits of Bugai are taken both green and waiting for their full ripening on the bushes. If you plan to take seeds from plants, then choose the most beautiful fruit that meets all the declared characteristics of the fruit and leave it until completely ripened on the bush. Since there may be few seeds in one tomato, it is advisable to leave several fruits.

A bull is well dosed at home. They are not suitable for storage, therefore, as they mature, it is recommended that they be immediately processed or used as food.
