A distinctive feature is the excellent yield of up to 8 kg per plant, although the average yield is 6-7 kilograms. Usually, 2 bushes are planted on 1 square meter, that is, 15-16 kg can be collected from 1 m2. De Barao Black can be stored and transported.

Basically, this variety is eaten fresh, as it has an excellent taste and will give any salad a festive look. Tomatoes are also suitable for pickling and preservation, juice and pasta can be prepared from them, but rarely anyone uses them for this.

Advantages

  • Exotic look.
  • Amazing taste.
  • Productivity
  • Persistent immunity.
  • Universality of application.

disadvantages

  • Tall plants make it impossible for many gardeners to grow them in their greenhouse.
  • In regions with a changing climate, the fruits may not fully ripen.
  • Regular garter and shoot removal.

Diseases and pests

Resistance to diseases does not guarantee their complete absence. The variety may be subject to black spotting; Fitolavin is used for treatment. Another misfortune is the top rot of fruits, a solution of calcium nitrate will help fight it, and watering is also limited in this disease.

The Colorado potato beetle is collected by hand, then the bushes are treated with a drug called Prestige. Mustard powder diluted in water will help to cope with slugs, 10 tablespoons will be needed for 10 liters.

Growing seedlings

Seed purchased at a specialty store does not need to be disinfected. If the seeds are harvested personally from the crop, they must be treated with a solution of manganese or copper sulfate. Before planting, experienced gardeners are advised to soak the seeds in the stimulator.

It is also necessary to responsibly approach the soil for seedlings, it must be nutritious, loose and absorb moisture well. It is possible to sow seeds both in a common container to avoid picking, and in general, but when several leaves appear, seedlings will need to be planted. Before planting, the soil is moistened, after the seeds are sown, the containers can be covered with a transparent film, they are opened after emergence.

Tomatoes are demanding of light, so young seedlings are placed in a sunny place, a windowsill is suitable. Over the course of growth, seedlings are watered 1-2 times a week, before planting, they are hardened into the ground, taken out into the street, they start in a few minutes in the fresh air, and every day they increase the time.

Landing

Before transferring the seedlings to a permanent place, you need to make sure that the frost has passed and the soil has warmed enough. 2-3 plants are placed on one square meter. Of course, like all tall tomatoes, bushes need a garter, for this you should build a trellis.

As they grow, plants form in 1-2 stems, then during the season every week you need to remove stepsons, leaving a small stump, do it better with your hands, garden tools can tolerate infections. You can water “De Barao Black” a couple of times a week, preferably in the cool time of the day. At least once every two weeks, it is recommended to hush the bushes after watering, this helps to strengthen the roots of the plant.

Fertilize should be at least three times per season, alternating mineral and organic fertilizers. When the fruits are fully formed and poured, the leaves under the brush can be removed, so the plant will not spend extra power. At the time of flowering, the tomatoes are treated with a solution of boric acid, dissolving 1 gram of the substance in 10 liters of water.

Harvesting

The variety is characterized by long-term fruiting, harvesting begins in June, and ends in September. If it gets colder on the street, and on the bush there are unripe tomatoes and they pluck and send them to ripen on the windowsill.

Conclusion

The variety is more suitable for experienced gardeners, as they know many of the nuances of caring for tall varieties. Definitely tomatoes will captivate anyone with their wonderful taste and unusual color.

I always dreamed of growing an unusual tomato variety, I tried once, but nothing came of it. And that year, a neighbor shared the seeds of “De Barao Cherny” I sowed them in March, the seedlings grew excellent, transplanted to the garden in late May. A very tall variety in open ground plants grew 2.5 meters. The yield is excellent, the tomatoes are very tasty. I harvested seeds from the crop the following year.

Excellent variety, resistant to late blight and many other diseases. The only drawback, "De Barao Cherny" is very demanding on top dressing, if you do not fertilize the bushes, you will not see high yield indicators. I picked the last tomatoes at the end of September before frost, stored until the middle of December, if desired, can be stored until the new year, but we ate very tasty very quickly.

Hello, I soaked the seeds of the tomato De Barao black two weeks ago, not a single seed did not hatch. Maybe they sit for a long time or the seeds are bad? 🤔 This is the first time they have taken up this variety.
