Description and description of tomato "Dimerosa"

10.02.2018 Tomatoes

Dimerosa is a very delicious Dutch tomato, but so far it has little distribution. A few reviews of this new hybrid show its high prospects.

Gardeners who have tried Dimerosa call it real value, and some have already managed to give it the title of king of pink tomatoes.

Description and characteristics of tomato Dimeros

An indeterminate variety (hybrid) of early ripening, recommended for cultivation in glass and film greenhouses. Based on the experience of gardeners, we can conclude that when planting a hybrid in the open ground, even in the southern regions, the palatability of the fruit is significantly reduced. The bush is powerful, tall with short internodes and a developed root system. Ovaries form before the first frost. The growing season takes 102 or 105 days.

Fruit characterization

The fruits are round or flat-round, not ribbed, pink, shiny, average weight 200–250 g. The pulp is sugary, sweet with hardly noticeable acid, the taste is very pleasant. The peel is thin and dense, ripe tomatoes do not crack and lie in the refrigerator for a long time. Seed chambers 2 or 3, the average number of seeds.

Tomatoes of the Dimerosa variety have a very good taste, they can be consumed fresh, in salads and vegetable slices. They are also suitable for cooking homemade dishes, pickles and juices. Tomatoes are dense, they are ideal for whole-canning.

Productivity

The first inflorescence is formed after 7 or 9 leaves (rarely after 5), subsequent brushes grow every 2 or 3 leaves. On one brush from 4 to 7 fruits are tied. When forming a bush in 2 stems, from it you can get from 1 to 2.5 kg of tomatoes. The highest yield was recorded in the suburbs, it amounted to 3, 6 kg from one bush. But it is worth remembering that in the open ground you can not count on such indicators.

Diseases and Pests

The new Dimerosa hybrid, introduced by the Enza Zaden agricultural firm, is highly resistant to the most common diseases and pests of tomatoes. The gardeners growing this tomato made up a small list of ailments that Dimerose is not afraid of:

  • tomato mosaic virus;
  • Fusarium wilt;
  • brown spotting, cladosporiosis;
  • verticillus wilting;
  • scoops and aphids.

Diseases for which Dimerosis tomato has moderate resistance include spotted wilting viruses and yellow curly leaves.

Advantages and disadvantages of tomato Dimeros

There are still few reviews about tomato Dimeros, but all of them very clearly reflect the most important characteristics of the hybrid. The list of advantages is pretty impressive:

  • stable tomato setting;
  • early maturity;
  • excellent presentation and taste of fruits, versatility;
  • high transportability;
  • short internodes;
  • resistance to cracking;
  • immunity to diseases and pests;
  • productivity.

The only significant drawback of Dimeros tomato can be called that it can be grown only in a greenhouse. But it is also worth remembering that it will not work to harvest seeds on their own, seeds collected from hybrids will not produce full-fledged (with signs of the original plant) offspring.

Growing Features

Seeds for seedlings should be sown 60 or 65 days before planting in the greenhouse (from the second half of February to mid-March). Even taking into account the fact that the tomatoes will grow in closed ground, you need to wait until the return frosts pass and the soil warms up well. Tomatoes can be planted a little earlier in heated greenhouses.

The process of growing seedlings is the same as for other tomatoes. The seeds of the Dimeros hybrid are germinated for a long time, you need to be patient and do not forget to moisten the soil with seedlings. Plants do not tolerate picking, it should be done carefully. Before planting tomatoes in a permanent place, they must be hardened without fail - first put in a cool room for a short time (15-20 minutes) and gradually increase the time.

On 1 m², no more than 3 tomatoes should be planted, they can be formed into 2 or 3 stems, the remaining stepsons must be removed. The lower leaves are removed as the bush grows, and the upper ones are thinned out if necessary. The bush grows up to 2 m in height, it is powerful, many brushes are formed, so you should pay special attention to the garter. The soil in the greenhouse should be light and nutritious, watering and top dressing are carried out in standard mode.

Reviews

Eugene. The first time I planted Dimerosa the year before last, I placed the bulk of the seedlings in the greenhouse and left 2 bushes on the street. The difference turned out to be enormous, there were a lot of tomatoes in the closed ground, the fruits were delicious. In the open ground, the bushes were weak, the tomatoes were small, watery and fresh. I recommend this hybrid to everyone, but it is only for greenhouses!

Svetlana I learned about Dimerosis by accident, bought pink tomatoes with a new name for me on the market and immediately went to look for seeds. I grow a hybrid for 3 years and everyone is happy! Tomatoes are universal, they are suitable for almost all types of processing, but I did not try to languish, however. This hybrid is not afraid of disease and easy to grow, for me it is just a godsend.
