Tomato is one of the most popular cultures among summer residents. A unique variety of tomato is French bunch. The variety is ideal for conservation. The dense, shiny skin during laying in jars will not be damaged, and the flesh will retain its juiciness.

Fruits can be salted, pickled, and also made from them tomato paste or tomato juice. Tomato is also consumed fresh.

Description, grade description, photo

French bunch - a tomato variety of Siberian selection and has nothing to do with France. There is an opinion that the origin of the name of the variety has its own legend. So, clusters of tomatoes of this variety are very similar to clusters of grapes. And grapes, as well as grape wine, of course, are associated with France.

Height, plant weight, color, shape

When growing tomatoes in open ground, the height of the bush is about 1 meter, and in the greenhouse, the bush can reach 1.5 meters and above. The weight of fruits of this variety ranges from 60 to 110 g. The shape of the fruit is elongated, with a slight thickening near the peduncle and the nose on the opposite side. Ripe tomatoes have a rich red color. The flesh tastes sweetish.

Features of cultivation and care of the variety

The variety is intended for cultivation, both in open ground and in the greenhouse. Plant height under different growing conditions differs from 1 meter in open ground to 1.5-2 meters in a greenhouse. Tomatoes of this variety ripen in clusters. The number of clusters on the bush, as well as the number of fruits in one cluster depends on the growing conditions. With good care on one bush there can be up to four clusters of 7-8 fruits in each.

Care

The main components of caring for this kind of tomato are watering, top dressing and garter. Moreover, the bush is tied up immediately after planting the soil. The garter will not allow the bush to break and ensure the safety of a fairly large crop.

Important! Pasynkovka can not be carried out. The more shoots on the bush, the greater the yield.

Planting and ripening dates

Germination seeds are sown in March. After the appearance of 2-3 real leaves, seedlings can be dived. Seedlings are planted in the greenhouse in early May, and in open ground at the end of May. In the open field, the fruits ripen late, by the month of August.

What regions are grown

This variety is unique. It is adapted for cultivation in various regions. In the northern regions, it is better to grow it in a greenhouse, since the fruits ripen quite late and the crop can be harvested before frost. The culture tolerates temperature extremes.

The fruits also ripen well. Therefore, if the early autumn frosts have come, then you can collect half-ripe tomatoes that ripen perfectly at home and at the same time, the taste will be preserved for several months.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

Benefits of Tomato:

  • high productivity;
  • simplicity and unpretentiousness of cultivation;
  • the fruits withstand transportation well;
  • disease resistance to adverse conditions;
  • long fruiting and storage.

The disadvantages of tomatoes:

  • the variety is medium late and does not have time to ripen in the northern regions;
  • not always pronounced taste;
  • the presence of voids inside the fetus.

This variety was grown last year. It was a good harvest. But the tomato did not like the taste. Made pickled.

Margarita

And we liked the tomatoes. Grown in a greenhouse. There was no time to even process properly, but the bushes did not hurt. There were many tomatoes and they were harvested until October. I recommend.

Olga

They tried to plant one season. The skin is thick, the pulp is not juicy. For those who have small areas and do not have time for experiments, I do not recommend planting it. It’s better then to plant the usual “cream”.

A neighbor in the country gave me some bushes of this Frenchman. Expectations were justified. Tomatoes are medium in size, almost oval in shape. The bank looks very beautiful. They made assorted pickled tomatoes and cucumbers.
