Description and description of tomato "Truffle yellow"

21.02.2018 Tomatoes

One of the most delicious options in a series of tomatoes, called "Japanese Truffle" is considered to be "Yellow Truffle." Like many yellow tomatoes, they are sweeter than their pink and red brothers.

Among other things, the yellow color of vegetables can decorate any dish, and also looks great in a jar.

The variety is indeminant, has excellent indicators of transportability, keeping quality. All this is due to the fact that the fruits have a thick skin. The bush reaches a size of 1.2-1.5 m, is formed in two stems. Needs a garter and removal of stepsons.

General characteristics

"Yellow Truffle" is a mid-season variety. From the appearance of the first seedlings to fruiting - 110-120 days. It can be grown both in the greenhouse and in the beds. Tomatoes have a slightly ribbed surface and a pear-shaped shape. Something like a truffle. The taste of the fruits of this variety is sweet, the pulp is fleshy, thick. The color of the tomato is orange-yellow, weight about 100-150 g. Suitable for making fresh salads, not bad for pickling in general.

Its main difference is a good ability to set fruit. It shows the best results when grown in a greenhouse. That's because it can grow up to 3 m. On one brush, 6-7 tomatoes can ripen.

Interesting! Many breeders have bred a low-growing variety of this tomato. In open beds, such a plant grows no more than 70 cm.

Growing seedlings

Sowing tomatoes for seedlings is possible in March. If you intend to later plant it in a greenhouse, which is heated, then planting can be done in April. If the greenhouse is not heated, then seedlings are planted no earlier than May. As for open beds, you need to look at the weather forecast here. You need to plant a plant on the beds after the end of all frosts. Most often this happens by the end of May. By this time, plants should reach the age of 60-65 days.

Low-growing species should be planted in 2-4 shrubs per 1 m2, tall - in 5-6. Tall, most often, form two stems. In this case, the second is obtained from the stepson under the first brush. The remaining stepsons are removed, as are the bottom five leaves. Bush growth should be limited to 6-7 brushes. Tall stems need garter and vertical support.

Attention! This variety should be watered exclusively with heated water.

Benefits:

  • the fruits are suitable for special nutrition;
  • can be used by people with allergic reactions;
  • contains a large number of vitamins and antioxidants;
  • the variety is resistant to diseases of fungal origin;
  • It tolerates any weather conditions.

How to care for the Yellow Truffle in open beds

Tomato is a very unpretentious plant, but, despite this, it is quite responsive to any measures to care for it. Thus, it turns out that the care shown about him will return to you with a rich harvest.

It is important not to overdo it with care. After all, tomatoes do not like neither a large amount of moisture, nor an excess of fertilizers, nor drought. You should determine the best number of all the manipulations that you will perform on the beds.

First of all, you need to determine the necessary care for the plants.

It:

  • optimal watering;
  • timely top dressing;
  • loosening the soil and ridding plants of weeds;
  • garter and herding;
  • hilling;
  • protection against pests and diseases.

How to water tomatoes properly

After planting plants in the soil, you should only take care of them in a timely and correct manner. The most important is watering. The secret to “proper” watering is moderate soil moisture. Water the plant should be as the soil dries up, but also to prevent drying out. Since this can ruin them.

The most optimal is considered to be watering about once a week.

Plant nutrition

The smallest number of fertilizing measures is about three, but fertilizing plants once every two weeks is considered the best option. To do this, you can use fertilizers that contain a lot of phosphorus and potassium, and a small amount of nitrogen.

You can apply these:

  • 10 l of water;
  • 30-40 g of potassium chloride;
  • 15 g of saltpeter;
  • 50-60 g of superphosphate.

You can also use a solution of bird droppings, and during flowering - boron.

How to tie up tomato bushes

It should begin after the plant is transplanted to the garden. To do this, you need to hammer a peg into the ground from the north side, backing 10 cm from the stem. The pegs should not be too small, about 1.5 meters high.

You can also use a trellis with a wire stretched over it.

Weeding and hilling

The standard procedure for hilling bushes is carried out about 2-3 times during the period of active growth. Weed control is more common. It is important not to let them grow too big.

Advice! It is convenient to carry out simultaneously the weed control, hilling and loosening of the soil. This will significantly save time.

Growing yellow truffle in the greenhouse, the bushes turned out to be about 1.5 meters. In general, I liked the variety, the harvest is good, they lay for a long time. But in fresh form, I did not like too much, in my opinion, too dense peel. And in the pickle they are excellent - they did not crack, they look beautiful in the bank. Next year I’ll try to plant in the garden.

I bought a bag of seeds after reading a large number of positive reviews. I grew seedlings and then transplanted to an open garden bed. Tied to the trellis, removed the extra stepsons. Later I used them to form new bushes. Tomatoes have grown a lot. Prepared a large number of winter preparations (pickled whole in a jar). I liked the variety.

I bought ready-made seedlings and planted them in a heated greenhouse under the film. Planted seedlings early - in mid-April. Pleased with an early, friendly harvest. Carried out measures for the treatment of diseases. I liked the taste.
