Characteristics and description of the tomato "Turboactive"

21.02.2018 Tomatoes

Tomato Turboreactive is a popular novelty of 2017, bred by Siberian breeders of the Siberian Garden agricultural firm. The variety gained popularity due to a combination of such properties as ultra-precocity, unpretentiousness and productivity.

Description and characteristic

Plant description

The variety is superdeterminant. Low bushes with a maximum height of 40 cm have strong, thick stems. Plants are slightly leafy with large leaves of a simple type of dark green color. Flower brushes are formed in 1-2 leaves, after the formation of 4-5 brushes, an shoot appears that limits the growth of the plant.

Ripening dates and growing conditions

It’s not for nothing that the breeders appropriated the name “Turboactive” to this variety. It is a leader among tomatoes in terms of ripening. From the first mass shoots to the formation of fruits, only 70-75 days pass.

The precocity of the variety makes it available for cultivation in any climate of Russia. Plants feel great in the middle lane in open ground. In regions with short rainy summers and lack of sunny days, tomato gives a good harvest. But many summer residents of the northern regions, fearing disappointment, grow the variety in film greenhouses and greenhouses.

Interesting!Superdeterminant varieties grow successfully in buckets and pots. This is due to the rapid heating of the soil and the direct ingress of water and nutrients to the roots of plants. Often the yield and ripening speed of such tomatoes is superior to those that grow in open beds or in greenhouses. In addition, dwarf bushes in pots, completely dotted with fruits, will perfectly decorate any site.

Productivity and fruit description

Another distinguishing feature of the variety is its high yield. Since flower brushes are laid almost through each leaf, the plant is literally strewn with fruits. So on one bush there are 30 or more tomatoes. Ripening occurs almost simultaneously and one bush gives at least 2 kg of ultra-early harvest.

Tomatoes have a bright red color, a flat-round shape with a dense, fleshy pulp and a large number of seeds. All the fruits on the bush are about the same size, of small weight from 50 to 80 grams. The taste is classic with a pleasant acidity.

You should know!It is generally accepted that early-ripening tomatoes are inferior in taste to their relatives with medium and late ripening. However, thanks to many years of observations by vegetable growers, it was possible to establish that even with sufficient sunlight, regular feeding and proper watering, even super-ripe tomatoes have an excellent taste and rich aroma.

Agricultural technology

Landing time

The optimal time for sowing seeds in the central regions is considered to be mid-March, in the northern and western - the first of April.

Preparing planting material

Despite the fact that the variety is intended for cultivation in open ground even in harsh Siberian conditions, it is better not to ignore the preliminary treatment and hardening of seeds. This will increase the chances of a healthy harvest even in the coldest and shortest summers. Preparation is carried out in several stages:

Culling

To begin with, it is necessary to remove seeds that are broken and differ from the bulk in size from the batch. Check the rest by immersion in salted water. To do this, add 1 tsp to a glass of water. salt and dip all the seeds into the solution. Empty and incapable of life will float to the surface. Good planting material will remain at the bottom of the tank. After checking, the seeds should be washed with clean water and dried.

Germination disinfection and stimulation

To prevent the development of diseases in young seedlings, the seeds are soaked for half an hour in a raspberry-colored manganese solution. Then washed with water and immersed in the drug to stimulate seed growth. Biostimulants promote rapid germination and increase resistance to diseases. In this solution, the seeds are soaked for 24 hours.

Germination

For germination, the seeds are placed in napkins or cotton pads moistened with warm water and placed in a plastic container with a lid. The conditions in the tank will be similar to greenhouse conditions and germination will occur in 3-4 days.

Quenching

The final step is to harden the seeds. To do this, during the week the container with sprouted seeds is put in the refrigerator for the night, and left at room temperature for a day. Hardened in this way planting material will produce tomatoes that in the open ground can perfectly bear fruit without fear of low temperatures.

Sowing seeds

Prepared seeds are sown in containers with soil to a depth of not more than 2 cm. Humidify the soil from a spray bottle to prevent leaching of seeds. The containers are closed with transparent glass or film and kept until germination at a temperature of 23-25 degrees Celsius. To avoid condensation, the coating is removed daily for 5-10 minutes for ventilation. Water the seedlings as the soil dries. In March-April, the daylight is quite long and you can do without additional illumination of seedlings. After germination of the first sprouts, the air temperature is reduced to 15 degrees heat. Pick picking is carried out after registration of two real leaves in seedlings.

Landing, care and top dressing

Seedlings are planted in the soil at 50-60 days of age, when the threat of return frosts has passed and the soil temperature has warmed up to 10 degrees Celsius.

Planting scheme for this grade 40x50. That is, between the bushes the optimal distance is 40 cm, and between the rows 50 cm.

It is not required to pinch tomatoes of this variety, since it is on these shoots that flower brushes are formed. Shorter bushes do not require tying to a support. Thanks to the strong stems and branches, the plants can easily withstand the weight of the fruit, despite the high yield of the variety.

"Turboactive" does not tolerate stagnation of moisture in the soil, so it should be watered rarely, but abundantly. It is important to consider weather conditions. When irrigating plants, the following rules should be followed:

  •         water under the root, avoiding water getting on the stems and leaves;
  •         use only warm, standing water;
  •         carry out watering in the morning or evening hours when the sun is not active.

The land on the bed of tomatoes regularly needs to be loosened. This procedure should be carried out after each watering. Loosening is necessary not only rows of landings, but also the soil between them. At the same time, weed is removed. Until the seedlings have strengthened, the soil is loosened very carefully to a depth of 10 cm so as not to injure the root system. When the bushes grow up, loosening is combined with the hilling procedure. This prevents exposure of the roots and promotes the development of a powerful root system.

During the flowering of the first brush, it is recommended to feed the plants for the first time. This can be done as follows: in 10 liters of water, half a liter of mullein and one tablespoon of superphosphate are bred. Half a liter of solution is enough for one bush.

For the next top dressing during the formation of the ovaries, universal complex fertilizers or specialized formulations for tomatoes can be used.

Important!The choice of fertilizers must be approached very carefully, focusing on the need for tomatoes in a given period. Better not to overfeed the plants than to overfeed.

The purpose of the variety

The taste of the fruits of this variety will not leave anyone indifferent. Tomatoes are suitable for fresh consumption, the preparation of various salads and vegetable dishes. Small-sized, regular-shaped tomatoes are great for canning and pickling. Tomatoes are not subject to long-term storage, so in order not to lose ripe fruits, it is necessary to process as soon as possible what cannot be consumed fresh.

Diseases and Pests

Tomato "Turboreactive" was bred and tested in harsh Siberian conditions, which is why it is endowed with immunity to diseases and pests, resistance to low temperatures. He is not afraid of either fungal or viral diseases characteristic of nightshade and even such a common ailment as late blight. Early ripening allows you to leave it, even in regions where summer does not last long.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

Variety Turboreactive has a number of advantages:

  •         early ripening;
  •         friendly return of the crop;
  •         compact bushes;
  •         minimal care;
  •         resistance to low temperatures;
  •         possesses immunity to diseases;
  •         good taste;
  •         presentation of the fruit.

The disadvantages of the variety can only be attributed to poor fruit keeping quality. But since these tomatoes ripen the very first, they simply do not have time to deteriorate, as a rule, they are quickly eaten.

Tomato "Turboreactive" is perfect for gardeners who do not like to spend a lot of time caring for planted plants and wait a long time for the harvest. Even in bad weather conditions, the variety will delight the excellent fruiting of experienced vegetable growers and the most lazy and inexperienced summer residents.

Very compact bush! Tomatoes grew sweet, last year the sun was enough. The variety was the earliest. Grew on a high bed in the open ground, did not shelter. The bushes are really all completely covered with tomatoes!

The bushes are very tiny and are dotted with tomatoes. I wanted to tie it up, nothing came of it, the fruits from the bottom to the top of the bush. They sang everything on the bush, they didn’t tear it green.

Olga

I recommend! I gathered two buckets of sweet tomatoes from five bushes. Half eaten, half marinated. This year I will definitely plant more, what is needed for open ground. I especially liked that it does not require pinching and building a support.
