All mosquitoes are here! Trapped!

Mosquito Trap

Warm summer evenings in the country often spoil annoying mosquitoes. Their painful bites and continuous buzz make you look for salvation in the house or destroy them with improvised means. You can get rid of these insects with the help of traps. They can be made independently and installed directly in the house or on the street. Such devices have a simple design, but act very effectively.

Simplest sticky trap

All mosquito traps work with the physiology of these insects. Mosquitoes are attracted by the warmth of the person, the odor emitted by the sweat glands, carbon dioxide and the moist environment. To make the simplest trap you need:

  • thick paper or a piece of cardboard;
  • 100 ml of castor oil;
  • 3 tbsp. l sugar;
  • 0.25 cup of turpentine;
  • 5 tbsp. l water;
  • 0.5 cups of rosin.

How to make:

First, prepare a solution for bait insects. To do this, mix the sugar with water until the crystals dissolve. The mixture is heated until it thickens, stirring constantly. Then the remaining ingredients are added to the hot liquid and mixed thoroughly to form a sticky and thick mass.

The resulting bait is applied with a thin layer on paper, pre-cut into strips. These homemade traps are laid out on the veranda, in places of rest, near the windows or the entrance to the house. As far as filling traps change to fresh.

Plastic bottle trap

Empty beverage containers often find their use in the household. It is suitable for the manufacture of mosquito traps. Make such a device can be a few minutes.

For the manufacture of traps required:

  • 1.5 l plastic bottle;
  • dark fabric or heavy paper;
  • Scotch;
  • scissors;
  • 50 grams of sugar;
  • 200 ml of water;
  • 5 g yeast.

How to make:

To make a trap, the top of the bottle is cut off, the length of which is at least 1/3 of the total height of the bottle. The cut piece is turned over and inserted into the remaining main piece. The place of a joint is fixed by an adhesive tape. You can make two holes in the upper part and pass the rope for the handle. Then the structure can be hung from the ceiling.

To fill the trap prepare a sweet bait. Water is heated to +30 degrees and sugar and yeast are dissolved in it. The liquid is poured into the lower part of the trap so that its level is below the neck. Outside the design is wrapped with a dark cloth.

Soon, the trapped liquid begins to ferment and spreads a scent that attracts bloodsucking insects. Insects fly inside, but they can’t get back through the narrow neck. The fermentation of the liquid continues for several days. When it is over, the bait is replaced with a fresh one.

Important!

The recipe bait can not be changed. If the water is cold, the fermentation will not start or will go slowly. When too much sugar or yeast produces a lot of foam, the solution rises and leaves the bottle.

For the manufacture of another simple version of the trap will require a plastic bottle and a little sunflower oil. From the empty container cut off the neck and lubricate the inner surface of the sunflower oil. On the sides of the tank you can make holes and pass a rope through them. Such a trap can be placed near the entrance or hang up higher.

Electric trap

Such devices for the destruction of mosquitoes are often found in stores. But you can do it yourself. The design of such a trap is a small lamp with a separating bottom. Periodically, it is removed and discarded by accumulated insects. The role of bait in such a lamp performs incandescent lamp. Attracted by its light insects fly through the grid, which is energized, and die.

To make a trap, you will need:

  • high voltage module;
  • energy saving light bulb;
  • switch;
  • aluminum soft wire;
  • battery.

Trap manufacturing procedure:

  1. 2 holes are drilled from different sides of the lamp base. In one of them insert aluminum wire and fix the end. Then it is wound on a lamp in a spiral. With the second drilled hole do the same.
  2. One of the wire ends coming out of the bulb is connected to a wound aluminum wire and tightly wound.
  3. The remaining leads from the bulb and the aluminum wire are connected to the high-voltage module, which was previously connected to the switch and battery.
  4. A lamp with a high-voltage winding is put on the module, ensuring matching of the wires and making contact.

After switching on the device, a light bulb lights up, to the light of which insects are rushing. When they come into contact with the wires wrapped around the lamp, they receive an electrical discharge and die. For collecting insects include a tray from a large plastic cover.

Electronic trap from the package

For the manufacture of such devices will require:

  • tetra pack of juice or any dairy products;
  • a piece of thick wire;
  • a large piece of gauze;
  • glue;
  • scissors;
  • small battery powered fan;
  • small flashlight or light bulb.

Manufacturing procedure:

From the tetrapack cut off the top with a cover and bottom. The remaining part will serve as a body for the trap. Using a piece of wire inside the fan is fixed closer to one of the edges of the housing. Its blades are positioned so that the air flow is directed outwards.

From gauze cut a circle with a diameter of 50 cm and stick it to the edge, where there is a fan like a bag. In the upper part of the body, holes are made from opposite sides and wire is inserted into them to make a handle. A light bulb or flashlight is attached to it and fixed with wire. For hanging do a loop on the handle.

After turning on the lamp and the fan, the trap is hung near the window or the entrance door. Mosquitoes fly into the light and fall into a gauze bag, tightened with an air jet from the fan. From there they can not escape and die.

On a note!

If there are a lot of mosquitoes, it is useful to use several traps at once or to combine different types of catching devices. Sometimes a bait that has always acted flawlessly ceases to attract insects. In this case, you can replace the ingredients. After some time, it is recommended to return to the original version.

Finally

To get rid of blood-sucking insects use different traps. All of them are effective in their own way. Choose a specific option to take into account the number of insects and floor space. You may need several different traps.
