Preparing for the landing
You can plant cucumbers in the greenhouse with seeds or seedlings. The second option is used when an early harvest is needed.
Planting seeds for seedlings is also necessary at a certain time. By the time of transplant, the plants must be strong, strong. If the seedlings are too young, the cucumbers will be weak and painful. If, on the contrary, it is late to plant, the plant will not be able to fully develop and you should not count on a good harvest.
Determining the time of planting seeds for seedlings is simple. Focus on the period of 3 weeks before disembarking for permanent residence. Cucumbers can be grown in any container. Peat tablets and cups are becoming increasingly popular. They not only allow minimizing all the risks associated with transplanting into the ground, but when placed in a hole, they provide sufficient nutrition for the root system with the substances necessary for development.
You can plant the seeds immediately in them, or you can pre-germinate them by spreading them on moistened toilet paper, napkins or cotton
Be sure to check the seeds for quality and germination. To do this, dissolve a spoonful of salt in a glass of water, pour the seeds into it and mix well. After 5-10 minutes, dummies will surface. Throw them away without even thinking. Only seeds sown to the bottom should be used.
They are spread out on a flat surface, slightly dried, and then soaked for half an hour in a saturated pink solution of potassium permanganate. This will help protect them from disease. It also does not hurt to conduct hardening of seeds. To do this, they are placed in the refrigerator for 12 hours, and then the same amount is kept at room temperature. So repeat 3 times. All! The seeds are ready.
They can be planted on seedlings, or, if time permits, directly into the ground in a greenhouse. The depth of the pit is 1.5-2 cm, do not tamper the seed from above, but simply gently sprinkle it with earth.
Planting dates and soil preparation
In a greenhouse, cucumbers definitely grow better than in open ground, especially when it comes to growing in the suburbs. If it is capital and heated, then you can get the crop all year round, but more often the greenhouses are ordinary only for their own use. In this case, the seeds can be planted in May, when the air temperature will be at least +18 in the daytime and at least +14 at night. Although in the suburbs this temperature can be established by the beginning of summer.
It is very important to be able to ventilate the greenhouse. Cucumbers are a heat-loving culture, but it is undesirable to soar them too much, then there will be a lot of foliage, and the number of fruits will decrease.
The soil also needs to be prepared. To do this, she digs with urea at the rate of teaspoon per square meter. After two weeks, the beds can be shed with hot water mixed with chicken droppings (200 g per 10 liters of water).
After the bed, cover with foil and leave for 10 days. After the specified time, it is considered ready.
Cucumbers should be planted in accordance with the recommendations for growing the selected variety. The pits can be arranged in longitudinal rows or staggered.
Before planting, a hot solution of potassium permanganate, about half a liter, must be poured into each well.
You can ensure a good harvest and the right choice of the most suitable variety for cultivation.
