Grade characteristics
Eggplant is an early ripe variety of bell pepper for growing in open ground and in greenhouse conditions. The bush is tall (1 - 1.2 m), has a sprawling shape. Ripe cone-shaped fruits, large, in the stage of ripeness acquire a dark red color and shiny skin. Fruits reach a weight of 240–250 g and are perfect for eating in any form: both fresh and pickled. With proper care and care, from each bush you can collect up to 6 kg of juicy and bright fruits.
Seed preparation before sowing
Seeds are sown at the end of February, approximately 70 days before the alleged seedlings are planted in a permanent place. Soak the seeds for 2 days in warm water, then it is useful to hold them for several hours in a weak solution of potassium permanganate and rinse with running water. Pour the soil into small containers and pour over water. Pour pre-soaked seeds and cover with dry soil 1 cm layer. Place the containers in a sunny well-lit place at a temperature of 27-28 ° C. It is desirable to cover the containers with transparent material to accelerate the germination of seeds, which sometimes need to be removed for ventilation. On the third day of emergence of the sprouts, the transparent material is completely removed, since the accumulated condensate can cause plant diseases.
Dive seedlings
At the end of April, when the first leaves begin to appear on the sprouts, seedlings must be transplanted in containers up to 0.5 l. The spine at this time has the shape of a rod and will be well able to transfer the "relocation" to a new place. From the same place, the sprouts are taken out with clods of land and transplanted into new soil. Water with caution - in the case of Kubyshka pepper, it is better not to add water to the soil than to waterlog.
3 weeks after diving, it is useful to harden the seedlings - for this you can take the containers out for several hours in the open air. And just before landing in the open ground, it can be left even at night.
Planting seedlings in open ground
In May, grown seedlings are planted in open ground only with full confidence that the frost has already irrevocably gone. If the weather is cold, the planted seedlings are covered with a film. For 1 square. 4-6 plants are placed in the garden meter, but it is not necessary to dig bushes into the soil. The soil before planting must be fertilized with humus and well loosened.
Bushes
To obtain a high yield in the process of plant growth, excess shoots are removed from the bush. As a result of this method, several powerful shoots remain on the plant, which can bring 25 peppers per season. When the sprout reaches 20 cm in height, lateral shoots are formed on it. Of these, 2 of the strongest are selected and left, and the rest are pinched. This procedure must be done with each new shoot, which will be bifurcated.
Fertilizer application
Sweet pepper needs to be fertilized. The following solution will be a wonderful top dressing: dissolve 1 tablespoon of double phosphate and a small spoon of urea in 10 liters of water.Top dressing can be applied at 0.5 l under each bush immediately after watering. Feeding is recommended every 3 weeks.
Pests of bell peppers and methods of dealing with them
Like any other crop, bell pepper suffers from pests. Consider the most common of them:
- Colorado beetle - the most dangerous enemy of the vegetable. To get rid of it, infusion of celandine is sprayed on the bushes, as well as manually collecting pests.
- Naked slugs cause huge damage to the plant. To prevent their appearance, parsley is planted between rows of pepper. If slugs have appeared, sprinkle pepper bushes with dry mustard and collect the slugs manually.
- Spider mite will go away if you spray pepper bushes with a solution of onion juice, chopped garlic and liquid soap.
- Aphid is the most common pest of pepper. You can get rid of it with the help of insecticides.
