Pepper "Big mom": characteristics with photos, reviews

14.01.2018 Pepper

Big Mama pepper is one of the most popular varieties not only among all groups, but also within its own family. It has a bright orange color, is distinguished by an early degree of maturity, high productivity, and most importantly - high taste.

Description and characteristic

The weight of one fruit reaches an average of 200 grams. The pepper has a rectangular shape with a smooth surface and a pulp thickness of 5 mm to 8 mm. During ripening, as with many congeners, the color is green. It has excellent taste. The length of the bush varies from 50 to 70 cm - in the open air, and can reach a meter in film conditions. In cooking, it is customary to use in standard recipes: for harvesting, preservation, and, of course, for fresh consumption.

Growing Features

The Big Mama pepper is suitable for cultivation in any climatic situation, including, both in the open ground, and in greenhouses. Since the variety ripens quite early, sowing seeds for seedlings should be done in the early stages - in early spring.

Soil and seed preparation

Pre-prepare the seeds for planting. Firstly, it is necessary to carry out their disinfection. It is enough to hold the seeds for 10-15 minutes in a weak solution of manganese water. Secondly, it is allowed to soak them in aloe juice, which will increase the vitality of the seedlings. Since such a variety does not differ in one hundred percent germination, gardeners do not recommend neglecting the treatment. It will increase the number of seedlings and, accordingly, get a rich harvest.

Sowing pattern

Transplanting seedlings should be carried out when the age of the seeds reaches 60 - 80 days. Tentatively, depending on the specific region, the planting time falls on the last days of spring - the beginning of summer, when it comes to cultivation in open ground. The recommended and most popular pattern is 50 by 35 cm.

Seedling Care

As they grow, young shoots will begin to need nutrition. In the early stages, the Big Mama pepper will be a fairly comprehensive option. At later, when the fruits reach their maximum size, the soil should be treated with nutrients. Both ready-made complexes and natural organic ones will do.

Remember, if the sowing was carried out in an acceptable, but later time, then the sprouts for 20 days must provide a full twelve-hour day. If climatic conditions do not allow this, it is strongly recommended to take care of the acquisition and installation of a special lamp. After the sprouts have grown, there will be enough daylight.

In addition to complementary foods, seedlings need additional support - it will need to be tied up.

Grade Reviews

I will not say anything bad about this variety. Grows tasty, sweet, juicy. Does pepper really need anything else? Almost not whimsical in the process of growing. It is important to carefully prepare the seeds before planting in the container, as productivity and, however, not the best. But, again, with proper preparation, everything will go fine. And, in the end, everything comes with experience.

They landed with his wife according to the instructions, about the end of July they received orange peppers. Gustatory qualities did not disappoint either; they are really on top: as they say - juicy, ripe.Already as a couple of years we have not changed this variety, but do not forget about others. We love to diversify the diet, so to speak. Undoubtedly, a big mother will become a favorite, both among beginner gardeners, and among experienced agronomists. Very worthy grade.
