How to grow plants

To plant Viking pepper, you need to choose light and fertile land. Plants are planted in areas where they previously grew:

  • cabbage;
  • pumpkin;
  • onion;
  • cucumbers.

Peppers give a good harvest if they are planted after green manure, which is often used as fertilizer.

Important! It is not worth planting a Viking on lands where potato, pepper or tomato used to be. In the absence of other sites suitable for planting, it is necessary to apply a large amount of organic fertilizer to the soil.

Sowing seeds for seedlings begins in late winter - early spring (February - March). First, seeds are tested for germination. To do this, dissolve a spoonful of salt in 1 cup of pure water and mix thoroughly. Then, pepper seeds are placed in the resulting solution. If they are on the surface, then such specimens should be thrown away, since they will not be able to ascend.

Having selected the necessary seeds for sowing, gardeners place them in a solution of potassium permanganate for disinfection. 3-5 drops of potassium permanganate are added to a small amount of water. Seeds are placed in the resulting solution for 1.5-2 hours. In addition, it is recommended to soak the seeds in herbal remedies. Experts advise using Epins-extre or Kemira for this purpose. And you can cook a phytopreparation yourself at home, taking for this juice, squeezed from a century.

Then you should put the disinfected seeds on wet gauze, wrap in it. Then, for some time, the seeds must be put in a warm place. Under such conditions, they will hatch faster.

Preparing boxes or peat pots ahead of time, filling them with soil. Usually, special soil purchased at the store is used as soil, which is prepared for growing peppers, in general, and Viking in particular. Before planting the seeds, the soil should be steamed or heated in the oven.

Important! Seeds should be planted immediately in separate containers, as the plant does not take root very well after a dive.

The land after planting is carefully watered, and then covered with plastic film or glass. Pots with seeds are stored in a warm and bright place, subject to an air temperature of 23 to 25 degrees Celsius. After the appearance of the first shoots, the glass or film material is removed.

Tip. Check the ground for moisture. If the ground is excessively or insufficiently moistened, this can lead to the death of the plant. Gentle bores are sprayed with a spray bottle. This will help prevent seed decay.

Fertilize for the first time after the appearance of 2-3 leaves on the stem.

A month before planting, the sprouts must be tempered. To do this, the pots are placed on the balcony or porch. First, the plants should not be taken out for long, gradually bringing the time of their stay in the cold to 7-8 hours. Usually, seedlings are brought in shortly before planting at night, since such a measure will help prevent the death of the plant from the cold.

Planting the finished seedlings in a specially prepared area should be carried out 65 to 70 days after the first tender bores appear.

Seedlings are planted in specially prepared holes, between which 40 cm should be retreated. This will provide the plants with a sufficient amount of nutrients. Between the rows of planting, it is necessary to retreat to a distance of 60 cm. Before planting, in each hole half of the soil is filled with nutrient soil or a mixture of earth and fertilizers. Then you should put the plant in a hole, carefully spread the root system and fill it with earth on top. After this, seedlings should be carefully watered and tied to pegs driven into the ground before planting.

Important! It should be ensured that after planting, the root portion is above the ground.

The plant is very unpretentious. Therefore, watering and 1-2 dressing are the only measures that help in good survival of the bushes. Such pepper is fed with the help of organic and mineral fertilizers.It is advisable to loosen the soil and weed it, removing any weed grass.

Fruits can be enjoyed in the middle of summer. And the fruiting of the plant takes place before the beginning of autumn.

How to increase yield

To get the best possible crop, the following rules should be observed:

  1. Do not damage the root system, so the landing should be done carefully. In addition, the stakes on which the bushes will rely are driven in before planting.
  2. In conditions of high humidity, the bushes are covered with polyethylene, which will prevent the plant from decaying.
  3. To increase the yield, it is necessary to get rid of the first flowers.
  4. So that the fruits are free of bitterness, do not plant “Swallow” peppers with bitter varieties.
Important! If you collect ripened fruits, then the remaining will grow faster and fill with taste.

Svetlana, 50 years old, Voronezh:

“This year, for the first time, I planted Viking pepper. I read on the packaging that the bushes are medium-sized, but in me they grew to almost a meter high, so I had to tie them up. I did not expect a big harvest, since the summer was cold and rainy, but my expectations were not fulfilled and I was pleasantly surprised, as the fruits began to fill up quickly, and their very sweet taste did not leave any of my household members unattended. The husband, who does not tolerate pepper in any form, ate and praised. Now I plan to plant this pepper annually and recommend the Viking variety to everyone. ”
