The crop will not be plentiful and the first clusters may not be so large and sweet. But there is a chance that in the future the crop will rise.

Preparing seeds for planting

Having selected ripe berries, the seeds are extracted, freeing them from the pulp. Then the seeds are washed well. After soaking for 2-3 hours, the flesh lags better. Then stratification is carried out in order to increase seed germination. Usually they start from mid-December, so that by June the seedlings can be transferred to open soil.

Stratification process:

  • the resulting bones are sorted out, leaving large and healthy brown seeds;
  • the selected seeds are placed in a damp cloth, transferred to a bag, transferred to the refrigerator for a month and a half;
  • set the temperature 0 - +2 degrees;
  • once a week, the bones are reviewed, if mold appears, they are washed;
  • after 7-8 weeks, the bone membrane is cracked, the seeds are removed from the refrigerator.

The bones are laid out on wet gauze in a plate, put in a warm place. Covering the seed with gauze is optional. When small roots appear, you can plant seeds in the soil.

Landing Stages:

  1. A place on the site is selected sunny, hidden from the winds, so that groundwater does not pass close to the surface of the earth.
  2. The soil should be light, drained, good air permeability.
  3. A pit is made 1.5 m deep, seedlings are planted 2 meters apart.
  4. Before planting the young, the holes are moistened, a seedling is transferred to them, sprinkled with earth and compacted.

Loosening the soil and harvesting weed is a mandatory procedure throughout the summer. Grass contributes to the spread of harmful insects.

Attention!
In humid lowlands, the vine quickly freezes.

In the first year of life, a grape bush grows to 1.5-2 meters in height. A fruiting plant is formed in the third year of life.

Tips & Tricks

Young plants are planted on the south side, closer to the walls of the house. Stones are laid around the vine.

If sand prevails on the site, then the vine is planted in trenches. On clay and loam, it is recommended to plant grapes on the ridges.

For irrigation and top dressing, plastic bottles with a cut bottom are installed between the seedlings.

In the first year of life, young animals can be left in the container in which they grew up at home. Buckets are not completely buried in the ground, they are taken out for the winter, transferred to the basement, and already in the spring bushes are planted in the ground without packaging.

Annual shoots tied up horizontally, then they will grow all the same.

A week before the expected flowering, watering is stopped.

Need to make drainage grooves. Wet leaves and too moist soil should not be allowed.

In the first years of life, seedlings need shelter for the winter. The shoots are removed from the trellis laid on the ground and covered with spruce branches, a layer of spunbond or a film.

If there is time to prepare the seeds for planting, and then to grow seedlings, then it is worth trying the seed method of growing vines. I did this because I did not find the seedlings and cuttings of the variety I needed, and I wanted to grow my own vine bush. I decided to try to germinate the seeds from the grapes I bought in the market. Not all seeds sprouted, but those that were taken gave the first bunches for 4 years of life, to taste they were the same as those that they bought. There were very few of them, but this is my achievement, and I am glad that I did it.

Sergey, 44 years old

I have been making wine for a long time, at first I made it for myself, but soon the first customers appeared. He wanted to plant the Red Delight grape variety, but could not find seedlings. I had to buy grapes, separate the seeds, wash them and soak them. I didn’t keep seeds in the cold. Single specimens ascended, I had to tinker with them, worried that the grapes would be of a different taste. Three bushes began, now I have my own Delight, I am glad that the experiment was a success.

Growing a vine from a seed is a long process that takes a lot of time and effort. It does not always bring the desired result. But if you want to experiment, develop a new variety, engage in selection, then it is worth a try. Priceless experience is gained and a feeling of satisfaction from the work done appears.
