To table grape varieties include the variety Original. The variety has gained wide distribution in Russia and in the neighboring countries. Gardeners choose the Original for planting because of the beautiful shape of the grapes and because of their sweet taste. Culture is easy to grow and propagate if you familiarize yourself with its characteristics and see photos with descriptions and reviews of people.

Characterization and description of the variety

The exact date of origin of the grapes remains unknown, but the variety was bred in Ukraine. As parental forms, scientists used the Domas rose, Datier de Senvalier. The original accepted from parents only positive qualities, therefore it is considered a successful example of Ukrainian selection of winegrowers. The grapes were supposed to ripen only in a warm climatic zone or in a film greenhouse. However, the culture proved to be more resistant to frost: it survived frosts of -20 degrees, but with shelter. The variety is zoned in the central part of the country, the western regions and the south. For cultivation in areas with a harsh climate is not suitable. The exception becomes grape planting into the greenhouse.

The fruiting period is from 135 to 145 days, usually occurs in the fall. For the first time, berries are formed on branches no earlier than the second year after the start of cultivation. The shape of the berries is ovoid, the fruits are collected in large clusters weighing 500-700 g. The size of the bunch can reach 1.5 kg with proper care of the plant. Berries are tightly adjacent to each other, so no voids form. The color of berries can be different: pink, black and red. The Original has several subspecies, and depending on it the skin color is determined. The taste is the same for all subspecies - it is rich and sweet. There is practically no acid in the pulp and juice, the total acidity is 5 g per liter. Sugars are presented in a moderate volume, sugary taste is not felt, the sugar content is 20%.

The berries of the Original have a length of 2.5-3 cm and a mass of 5-7 g.

You can use the harvested crop for various purposes: the berries are universal. Mostly they are eaten, because of the sweet taste, they do not stay in the refrigerator for a long time. Grapes are suitable for the production of homemade wine, jam, jam, confiture. Harvested crops can be stored for several weeks, but only at low temperatures. The original is grown for sale, berries normally tolerate transportation, preserve the marketable appearance and do not secrete juice.

The bush is growing rapidly, so the original must be planted with a supply of free space. The height of an adult plant is at least 5 m. On each side there should be at least 2 m of distance from other plantations. A load of 35-40 eyes is set on the bush, this is considered the optimal value. With such a number of eyes, 1-2 clusters are formed on one shoot, and the rate of maturation is 70-80%. The variety is considered self-pollinating.

The original is highly resistant to viruses, rarely sick. With age, the immune qualities of the culture weaken a little. To maintain immunity, agronomists recommend that they be treated 2-3 times a season with fungicidal agents. Processing spend in spring and in the fall, when the shoots have not yet begun to intensify and bloom.

The main negative point in the cultivation is the excessive formation of stepsons at the main bush. At the stepsons, new berries begin to ripen, which take away part of the strength from the main crop. All stepchildren are pruned or cut off even before flowering. The second drawback of the Original is the falling of berries. This can happen even in adverse weather conditions, for example, during sudden autumn frosts.

Term and conditions for landing

In most cases, the original planted in the spring, in mid-April. Spring planting is better than spring planting for several reasons:

  • the soil is well moistened:
  • plants will not freeze;
  • adaptation will go smoothly.

Autumn planting is chosen by residents of the southern regions. Winter in the south lasts in the positive temperature range, so nothing will happen to the culture. The original is not whimsical to the soil; it grows in almost any land, but not alkalized. The groundwater level on the site should be no more than 1.5 m.

Before planting, the seedling is immersed for several minutes in an additive that stimulates plant growth. It will give strength and help the culture quickly grow stronger, get comfortable in a new place. After planting, you need to compact the soil so that voids do not form in it. Take the earth with your hands and water it. The consumption rate for irrigation is 2 buckets per seedling.

Care Features

Proper care of the crop determines the indicator and quality of the future crop. The grapes must be monitored, not to let its growth drift. When growing, follow a few simple rules:

  • pruning shoots. Fruitful shoots are determined and 8-12 extra eyes are cut from them. Cut sites are cauterized with potassium permanganate or peroxide to protect the plant from infection;
  • infrequently watered. Grapes are enough 1-2 watering for the whole month. Plants are watered under the root, leaves do not need to be irrigated;
  • mulch the earth. For mulching take forest moss, blackened sawdust will do;
  • feed organic or mineral (potash, phosphorus) fertilizers.

It is necessary to use additives when the plant is 2 or 3 years old.

Winter preparations

The original will survive the night frosts without shelter, if the temperature is not lower - 5 degrees. As soon as cooling comes to the region, the plants are prepared for wintering. Cut green leaves and most of the shoots from the bushes. The vine is removed from the support, and the ground is mulched with sawdust. On a plant, folded in 2-3 rows of branches of sprats and cover the structure with roofing material, slate or film on top. In spring, the structure is dismantled, the vine is cut and attached to a trellis or other support.
