Delicious Braised Cabbage with Sausage
Cabbage is a product that is almost always present in our menu. If you fry or stew it, you get a truly royal dish. Spices play a big role in this dish, and if you plan to stew cabbage, then immediately think about how to flavor it.
Today in our kitchen - stewed cabbage with sausage. Already sounds appetizing, so we prepare all the products and cook together. In addition to cabbage, we will need vegetables (onions and carrots) and smoked sausage. We will stew the cabbage with the addition of tomato paste. Thanks to this combination of ingredients in this step-by-step recipe with a photo, the cabbage turns out to be very tasty and fragrant.
From spices, dried coriander, basil or marjoram can be added to this dish.Ingredients:
- white cabbage - 350 grams;
- smoked sausage - 150 grams;
- medium carrot - 1 pc.;
- small onion - 1 pc.;
- tomato paste - 20 grams;
- vegetable oil - 30 grams;
- some water;
- salt, pepper - to taste.
How to cook sauerkraut stew with sausage
Remove the top leaves from the cabbage, then cut the vegetable into strips. Cabbage can be cut with a sharp knife or use a special grater shredder.
Peel the onion from the husk, rinse under water, then cut into small cubes.
Peel the carrots, rub on a regular grater. You can do this on the middle or on the shallow side.
Fry the cabbage with onions and carrots in a pan with the addition of vegetable oil. Make the fire medium so that the vegetables go limp after a couple of minutes. Stir with a spoon and slightly salt.
While cabbage is fried, cut smoked sausage into cubes. Sausage can be semi-smoked or cured - whichever you prefer.
When the cabbage becomes half soft, add the sausage to the pan, mix and fry a little so that the sausage gives its aromas.
After a couple of minutes, add the tomato paste and pour in a little water so that the cabbage is stewed.
Cover and cook over low heat.
