Delicious stewed cabbage with pork
Braised cabbage with pork is a very popular dish, which is prepared in many countries of the world, especially in the countries of the former Soviet Union.
The main ingredients of this dish are meat and cabbage. Pork with a small layer of fat is ideally suited as a meat component. Thanks to such meat, the dish turns out to be juicy, very tasty and satisfying. The number of ingredients in this recipe with a photo can be slightly changed to your liking.
Ingredients:
- cabbage (without stump) - 800 grams;
- pork - 400 grams;
- onions - 150 grams;
- carrots - 150 grams;
- tomato paste - 1 tbsp. a spoon;
- tomato juice - 100 grams;
- granulated sugar - a pinch;
- table salt - to taste;
- ground black pepper to taste;
- bay leaf - 1 piece;
- vegetable oil - 5 tbsp. spoons;
- spices for meat - 1 teaspoon.
How to cook stewed cabbage with pork
Pork with small layers of fat cut into slices about 3 by 3 centimeters in size and put in a deep frying pan or stewpan. Fry over high heat without adding oil. If you use dry meat, then you can grease the surface of the pan with a little sunflower oil.
Fry the meat until golden brown on all sides. Thanks to such dry frying over high heat, the meat is “sealed” and all juices remain inside, which will make it juicy and tasty.
Dice the onion, grate the carrots, add to the meat.
Fry all together over medium heat literally until the vegetables are soft. It is very important not to overcook them so that they do not start to burn. Add oil if necessary.
Add salt and pepper to taste. And also add spices for meat.
Chop the cabbage, salt (enough 3 pinches) and knead. Transfer to a pan and fry on low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, preventing it from burning. Add some sunflower oil.
After that, cover the pan, reduce heat to the quietest and leave to simmer for about half an hour. Also do not forget to stir occasionally.
Then pour tomato juice, add tomato paste, sugar, black pepper and bay leaf.
Simmer for about 10 minutes, but without a lid, so that all excess liquid evaporates. Taste and add salt if necessary.
Braised cabbage with pork is ready. Serve better when hot. Stewed cabbage with meat can be served as an independent dish or to a potato side dish - and so it will be very tasty and satisfying.
